Managing life stressors & balancing relationships are common issues that humans struggle with today. We struggle to do it all & more often than not we wind up feeling burned out and/or checked out. We are existing instead of living. I view therapy as offering the opportunity to gain another perspective on life experiences & explore how to navigate them more effectively. Once we gift ourselves the opportunity to engage in therapy we become better equipped to function from a place of gratitude which automatically shifts us into a healthier state of mind.

I’ve worked closely with adults and children on decision-making strategies, coping skills and mindfulness techniques.
Life is a series of choices and decisions that often lead us to uncharted destinations and exciting opportunities. Sometimes this can feel overwhelming and obstacles may occur to block our path or keep us stuck and unable to seize the opportunities within our reach.

My approach is trauma-informed and integrates EMDR therapy, mindfulness, somatic techniques, and practical tools to support nervous system regulation and meaningful change.
Life looks steady on the outside — but internally, you feel anxious, self-critical, or stretched thin. You may be navigating perfectionism, people-pleasing, relational stress, or a major life transition like pregnancy or postpartum. Perhaps you’re carrying cultural expectations, professional burnout, or old patterns rooted in past experiences. You want to feel more grounded, confident, and connected to yourself — but you’re not sure how to quiet the constant overthinking or self-doubt.

You aren’t broken. You are a culmination of everything you have experienced up until this point in your life, and some of it may still feel confusing, tangled, or hard to make sense of. Let’s untangle it together. My approach to therapy is rooted in our shared human experience. I, too, am a human being who understands the tendency to narrate stories about our lives (sometimes unhelpfully), lose touch with healthy ways of coping, and feel lost in the vastness of everything life throws at us. Therapy is a space in which we can slow down, explore those stories, and begin making sense of the pieces.

I also provide tools and techniques such as Mindfulness and Somatic practices that you can use on your own to help with anxiety and stress.
If I could say just a couple things about my practice as a therapist to help you decide if you may want to work with me or not, it would be this – I teach you to be kinder to yourself, give yourself grace (because I know you are too hard on yourself), and to not believe everything you think. I use lots of different modalities in doing this and it’s a very collaborative process sprinkled with humor because therapy doesn’t have to be so serious, it can be fun too.

Mindfulness-Based (MBCT) Therapists
How does mindfulness-based cognitive therapy work?
Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy originated in the work of John Kabat-Zinn of the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He developed mindfulness-based stress reduction, which is a technique found in yoga and meditation. MBCT is a combination of this type of stress reduction and cognitive behavioral therapy; it essentially quiets emotional distress through mindfulness, utilizing proper breathing and meditation. These techniques aim to bring the individual into the present moment when in a state of distress.

When do I know if I need treatment with mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?
If an individual’s mind is filled with emotional distress and general negativity, the person may feel trapped. A mindfulness-based cognitive therapist can help a person change their thinking patterns as well as their behavior through calm acceptance and compassion. This therapy can provide an individual with the coping skills needed for a healthier and more constructive life.

What should I expect from mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?
This therapy often takes place in group sessions. A therapist will work with the group as well as with each individual. Meditation and breathing exercises are core practices that aim to invite inquiry and discovery into a person’s troubled mental state. The objective is to identify and lessen negative thoughts and behaviors and move toward optimal health and productivity. The individual will see life in a more realistic way. This therapy is supportive, accepting, and warm.

Is mindfulness-based cognitive therapy effective?
Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy is evidence-based and effective. One study found that people with major depressive disorder have benefitted from this type of therapy; the person accepts their distressed thoughts and also moves into healthier patterns of thinking. This therapy also aims to move an individual away from automatic negative responses. This type of therapy can bring a person lifelong change, with higher levels of satisfaction, less stress, as well as positive emotional and behavioral habits.
