Inevitably we all encounter profound disappointments and trauma in our life-time. The resulting pain which lingers, may cause physical or emotional symptoms such as confusion, excessive
anger
, fear, anxiety, and/or depression. Such symptoms make achieving one's life's goals difficult. The goal of psychotherapy is to relieve these debilitating symptoms.
Working with adult individuals, I create an environment that facilitates an honest and open exchange between patient and therapist. My goal is to identify the source of symptoms and to increase my patient's quality of life by restoring a sense of balance of body and mind.

There is something in the human spirit that recognizes that our lives can be changed. A spark of possibility lives alongside our confusion, loss, anxiety,
anger
or trauma. Working with an experienced therapist provides a chance to access those possibilities, understand ourselves and our circumstances better, and bring about the changes that we want and need.

Are you looking to make a shift? I am licensed Marriage and Family Therapist working with individuals, couples, families, and groups. I believe therapy can be seen as a process of unpacking. Things often go unsaid, which can manifest into various effects on the body, such as anxiety. Although staying with your emotions can be difficult, it can often be the pathway to healing. My clinical experience has allowed me to gain a deeper understanding of the impact of our environment and relationships, as well as the positive shifts that can take place when offered supportive and validating resources.

Our experiences mold us in various ways. If I were to imagine a plant that captures what happens to many of us when faced with challenging and persistent experiences, the CACTUS comes to mind. Like the CACTUS, we develop tougher skin and spikes to protect ourselves from problematic situations. When not processed correctly, the development of these characteristics may detract attention from the other powerful properties we possess. For some, the CACTUS may be the least appealing plant. When given the time to learn about it, you discover that the CACTUS is extremely resilient, powerful, beautiful and filled with wonders.

Recovery is not a solitary journey; it is about connection with self and others. As we enter into the process of therapy you will have the opportunity to experience inner connection and awareness leading to Self expansion and outer growth. I believe strongly that our primary task is to continue your journey of self exploration; to seek the wealth of potential, strength, compassion, understanding, and openness that lies within. It is your ability to connect with these that will serve as your greatest asset in obtaining whatever goals you have coming into therapy.

Anger Management Therapists
How long does therapy take for anger management?
Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.
How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?
Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.
Is there medication for anger management?
Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.
What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
