Anxiety is part of being human, but drowning in it shouldn't be. Jon Kabat-Zinn once said "You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf". It seems to be one thing after another leaving you more anxious than you already were. The overwhelming feeling of being stuck with no way out. The fear of the next panic attack. The next new thing making your heart race a million miles an hour. How do you even begin to process it all? Many times we have the tools already in our tool box but may not be aware they are there or how to utilize them. Let me work alongside you to find and strengthen your coping skills.

I integrate CBT, DBT, ACT, mindfulness, and psychodynamic approaches to help you manage emotions, challenge unhelpful thoughts, and build coping skills that fit your needs.
Therapy for when you're holding it together for everyone but yourself. The pressure to have it together, perform at a high level, and figure out who you are all at once is a lot to carry. I work with college students and adults navigating anxiety, depression, perfectionism, trauma, and the kind of life transitions that hit hardest in early adulthood - first jobs, new cities, shifting relationships, identity questions that don't have easy answers. If you're exhausted from holding the bar so high for yourself, this is a space to breathe, reset, and actually build something sustainable.

Navigating life’s transitions can be full of hope, excitement, and anticipation. But for some, these times of change can also bring about stress and anxiety, sadness and confusion, and struggles with depression and self-esteem. Handling social pressures, financial stressors, and lifestyle changes can be overwhelming. But with guidance, you can learn to deal with them more effectively and with confidence.

You've survived something hard. Maybe more than one thing. And while part of you has kept going — kept functioning, kept showing up — another part is exhausted from carrying it. Trauma doesn't always look like what people expect. It shows up in relationships, in your body, in the quiet moments when your mind won't settle. You deserve more than just getting by. My name is Kaitlynn Turre, I am a NJ Based LCSW. I work with adults, adolescents, and couples navigating anxiety, trauma, relationship challenges, and life transitions. My practice is fully virtual, which means you can access support from anywhere in New Jersey — no commute.

Reaching out for support can feel overwhelming, especially when you're carrying the weight of accumulated, unresolved stressors causing life's backpack to feel too heavy to carry. Mental loops can leave you feeling stuck, emotionally exhausted, and imbalanced making it difficult to navigate life's unexpected challenges. I work with adults navigating anxiety, PTSD/trauma, grief and loss, life transitions, and emotional overwhelm. Whether you're feeling stuck, disconnected, or simply trying to find your way through a difficult season, therapy can be a place to slow down, gain clarity, and begin healing.

Dialectical Behavior (DBT) Therapists
Who is DBT for?
Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is designed for people who experience extreme emotional suffering because they lack the skills of emotion regulation and distress tolerance. The basic affliction can underlie a wide range of conditions, from borderline and other personality disorders to PTSD and treatment-resistant anxiety and depression. The therapy is helpful to those whose emotional reactivity is so intense it is disruptive to everyday functioning and leads to frequent crises.

Why do people need DBT?
The ability to regulate emotions is a core psychological skill that enables people to function in life and pay attention to the world outside themselves; it is consistently associated with well-being. DBT is designed to help people learn how to manage and regulate their emotions. Originally developed to treat people with borderline personality disorder whose extreme emotional suffering led to self-harming behavior and suicide attempts, the therapy is now applied to other conditions involving emotion dysregulation, particularly when other treatments have failed.

What happens in DBT?
Individuals meet weekly with their therapist to discuss their experiences relating to moods, behavior, and skills. Using checklists they maintain, they review emotional experiences and positive practices they engage in. The diaries help individuals discern what led up to a specific problem encountered, this is followed by discussion of the consequences of their actions. In addition, individuals may meet in class-like small groups to learn skills such as mindfulness, emotion regulation and distress tolerance.

How long does DBT last?
Because it is intended to establish long-lasting behavioral change among those with persistent problems, DBT is designed to last six months to a year. DBT includes both weekly sessions of individual therapy and weekly skills-training sessions conducted in small groups. Studies of DBT have documented improvement within a year of treatment, particularly in controlling self-harmful behavior; nevertheless, individuals may require therapy for several years.
