This mom thing is a lot! You are juggling work, family, the endless mental load of remembering everyone’s everything... and somehow still feel like you’re not doing enough. You catch yourself snapping at your kids, scrolling for escape, and wondering when you stopped feeling like yourself. Then comes the guilt for even feeling that way. You tell yourself to be grateful, but honestly—you’re just tired, touched-out, and trying to survive on caffeine and guilt trips.

Ready to try something different? You've tried traditional talk therapy and have felt better, but still find yourself feeling stuck in the same thought patterns or going back to old behaviors. I help adolescents and overwhelmed adults process complex trauma using brain-body and alternative therapies. Complex trauma refers to "little t" traumas that compound throughout our life- from difficult childhood experiences to stressful life events. I especially enjoy working with adult children of emotionally immature parents.

I often use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness Therapy in my practice.
Life can throw us curve balls when we least expect it. Having a person to unload your stress and fears with a nonjudgmental perspective can help release the burdens of everyday life. You don't need to fit into a box to benefit from individual therapy, as I believe we all find it to be useful.

As someone who suffered from anxiety & trauma, I can tell you that I spent years looking for the right therapist & I just wanted results. I knew I had the potential to achieve so much more and create a life that I was excited about living, but I didn’t know where to start. I saw many therapists over the years & I was sick of just TALKING & re-living things over and over without seeing improvement. Finally, I met a therapist that changed my life. He introduced me to brainspotting, & IFS. I was skeptical at first but I was open minded & tried it out. I learned that trauma is stored in the body & that talk therapy doesn’t address that.

What if therapy felt like a place where you didn’t have to find the perfect words, where you could just show up as you are?
My approach is grounded in meeting you exactly where you are while helping you move toward where you want to be. Our work can include reflection, skill-building, and even the occasional well-timed laugh. I like these for their practical strategies and techniques to use when overcoming depression, lessening the symptoms of depression and the mindfulness and spiritual components of the first two.
Trust your gut. Feeling stuck and unable to fully engage with your authentic self? Or do you find yourself engaging in repetitive behaviors that haven’t served you well and not sure why? Sometimes life experiences can cause us to second guess ourselves and lead us toward less than favorable situations. It happens to the best of us and as a Black and BIPOC therapist, I want you to know that it doesn’t always have to be that way. Often it’s helpful to have the support of a spiritual connection, friends and family. It’s also helpful to have a therapeutic relationship.

Disconnection from your true self is what I see creates many problem areas in people’s lives: unhealthy relationships, weak interpersonal boundaries, lack of self-esteem, panic, anxiety and fear based decisions and behaviors. I help them repair this separation and come back into alignment with who they always have been deep down.

My emotionally attuned, integrative approach blends CBT, mindfulness, ACT, and somatic work to help you release unhelpful thoughts and tension.
Are you feeling lost, hopeless, or like you lost your spark and don’t know how to reconnect with yourself? Maybe you have a voice in your head criticizing you, telling you that you’re not good enough, that you should be doing more, or that you’re failing. Sometimes, it can feel like there are alarms going off in your head and your body is storing that tension. Over time, these inner dialogues can become so familiar that they start to feel like the truth, even if they’re not.

OCD, phobias & anxiety can be overcome, I've seen it happen! Don't let anxiety & stress run the show. My therapeutic approach is client-centered, honoring your experience & inner wisdom as our guide for growth. Together, we'll reclaim your power through traditional or unconventional therapy, like VR Therapy, Ketamine Therapy or Creative Art Therapy.

Mindfulness-Based (MBCT) Therapists
How does mindfulness-based cognitive therapy work?
Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy originated in the work of John Kabat-Zinn of the University of Massachusetts Medical School. He developed mindfulness-based stress reduction, which is a technique found in yoga and meditation. MBCT is a combination of this type of stress reduction and cognitive behavioral therapy; it essentially quiets emotional distress through mindfulness, utilizing proper breathing and meditation. These techniques aim to bring the individual into the present moment when in a state of distress.
When do I know if I need treatment with mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?
If an individual’s mind is filled with emotional distress and general negativity, the person may feel trapped. A mindfulness-based cognitive therapist can help a person change their thinking patterns as well as their behavior through calm acceptance and compassion. This therapy can provide an individual with the coping skills needed for a healthier and more constructive life.
What should I expect from mindfulness-based cognitive therapy?
This therapy often takes place in group sessions. A therapist will work with the group as well as with each individual. Meditation and breathing exercises are core practices that aim to invite inquiry and discovery into a person’s troubled mental state. The objective is to identify and lessen negative thoughts and behaviors and move toward optimal health and productivity. The individual will see life in a more realistic way. This therapy is supportive, accepting, and warm.
Is mindfulness-based cognitive therapy effective?
Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy is evidence-based and effective. One study found that people with major depressive disorder have benefitted from this type of therapy; the person accepts their distressed thoughts and also moves into healthier patterns of thinking. This therapy also aims to move an individual away from automatic negative responses. This type of therapy can bring a person lifelong change, with higher levels of satisfaction, less stress, as well as positive emotional and behavioral habits.
