We all have strengths that we can develop, as well as challenges from which we can grow. Each crisis in our lives is an opportunity for healing and growth. As your therapist, I will use a variety of techniques to help you achieve your personal, professional, and spiritual goals. My primary approach is relational psychodynamic , meaning I focus on the healing power of the therapeutic relationship. An interactive and empathic therapist, I offer advice and support when needed, and I share my own experiences when I think they will be helpful. Though I have extensive, in-depth training, I rely greatly on intuition and humor in my work.

My treatment is tailored toward individual needs and may incorporate a variety of styles, from psychodynamic to cognitive-behavioral.
People end up in my office because what were once adaptive styles of coping no longer work for them. I provide a warm, safe environment in which they can begin to understand why they feel and/or act the way they do, and to try to learn new, more effective ways to cope with what they are dealing with now, and what may come their way in the future.

In addition to psychodynamic therapy techniques I am trained in EMDR and Somatic Experiencing.
People engage in therapy because they are seeking relief from uncomfortable feelings that may have arisen from being overwhelmed with what life has handed them. Many are grappling with relationship challenges, feelings of being stuck, self-defeating behaviors, anxieties, phobias and issues of self-esteem. Others are experiencing physical symptoms which have been diagnosed as being rooted in psychological turmoil, also known as psychophysiologic disorders, or TMS.

Psychodynamic Therapists
Psychodynamic therapy, also known as insight-oriented therapy, evolved from Freudian psychoanalysis. Like adherents of psychoanalysis, psychodynamic therapists believe that bringing the unconscious into conscious awareness promotes insight and resolves conflict. But psychodynamic therapy is briefer and less intensive than psychoanalysis and also focuses on the relationship between the therapist and the client, as a way to learn about how the client relates to everyone in their life.
