I have studied extensively in the area of addictions, women's issues, Jungian Psychology, and Bowen Family Therapy. I utilize all of these ideas in my work, depending on the type of client I am working with. My approach is Rogerian, providing a safe and supportive environment, but not at the expense of my client's growth. I believe therapy is about becoming the actualized individual you were meant to be.
I believe strongly in the power of the unconscious to help us to heal. Thus, dreams are important and I encourage clients to bring dream material into their sessions. In addition, I encourage using movies, art, opera, stories, myths and fairy tales to help in the healing process.
My practice is limited to adults. I have had extensive experience working with both men and women dealing with issues related to addiction and codependency. I have also treated the gay population with success. I utilize the ideas of the 12-step programs where applicable.
