I specialize in the treatment of OCD, depression and anxiety disorders, complex trauma , and borderline personality disorder.
Do you feel so overwhelmed and numb that you feel everything and nothing at the same time? Do you struggle with self-doubt, low self-esteem, depression, or anxiety? My approach works to address the internal dialogue that contributes to problematic patterns of behavior and painful emotions. I understand how limiting it can be when critical or perfectionistic self-talk inhibits you from making the positive changes that you are seeking. I aim to help you become your greatest supporter instead of your biggest critic and to learn to relate with yourself in a new way that promotes growth and healing.

I also have extensive experience treating various forms of abuse and neglect after providing clinical services to adolescents with a complex trauma presentation for more than a decade.
Life is a series of challenges. Society reinforces quick fixes to be happy. I am realistic and believe that living the kind of life you desire is not about avoiding distress and challenges. It is about learning skills and having the right tools to function while feeling distress and facing those challenges. True growth occurs in the face of discomfort, so therapy is not always easy. I provide a safe space while you go through those times of discomfort. It is the willingness to tolerate that discomfort and when real transformation and empowerment occurs.

As a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist, trained in Betrayal Trauma and EMDR, my work is Trauma Focused.
I'm a Licensed Certified Social Worker with many years of clinical experience, currently licensed in CA, FL, NJ and NY. The focus of my work is with betrayed partners (of sex addicts). Most of my clients approach me trying to understand and process the trauma that they have suffered. For many patients, their recent trauma , is not their first. Patients often tell me that I’m so easy to talk to and that they feel comfortable and validated when working with me. In helping my clients understand their trauma , and the dynamics around it, I work gently and carefully, while ensuring comfort and safety as we talk about these difficult topics

I focus on trauma , life transitions, addiction, co-occurring disorders, relationship issues, depression, and anxiety. With my clients, I mix CBT and DBT interventions to pursue healing and change from different angles. I am also trained to use EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy) to reprocess and reduce traumatic memories and the high-intensity emotions they trigger. I have worked in addiction and recovery settings and can support my clients on that path. See my calendar and request appointments here: resolutioncounseling.clientsecure.me

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
