In treating children , I feel therapy is most effective when the family is closely involved.
I bring over 15 years of experience to treating adults, teens, and children . I specialize in treating depression, anxiety, and behavior issues. When I work with adults, my focus is on understanding the factors that have led up to the current symptoms, and on understanding the person's strengths. By building on individual strengths, therapy can guide us back to our best selves.

I specialize in children , adolescents, and young adults struggling with anxiety, depression, and trauma.
“Courage does not always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying I will try again tomorrow”- Mary Anne Ramacher. It’s okay if we’re the quiet voice willing to try again tomorrow. I’m here to help support that voice, however loud or quiet. I believe that therapy is like building a tool box, your therapist helps you learn how to use all the tools you have in your box and encourages you to use them properly. The toolbox you build is one you can always keep with you and utilize whenever you need it. As a therapist, I like to ensure my clients feel safe and heard, in whatever way that may be.

I provide play therapy, individual psychotherapy, child parent psychotherapy, parent consultation, and assessment.
I have over 15 years of experience working with children , adolescents, and families. I have an eclectic approach to working with and helping meet the needs of those I serve. This approach is guided by psychodynamic principles to understand and address the underlying issues leading to one's challenges. A crucial piece to my approach is consultation and collaboration with parents to facilitate the improvement of children 's development and psychological well-being, as well as that of the family.

Every child deserves to feel safe, loved, supported, and connected.
I understand that a child who struggles at home or school with strong emotions or behavioral challenges, requires a lot of time and attention, seems angry, withdrawn, sensitive, or just doesn’t seem themselves, may leave a parent feeling frustrated, worried and exhausted. You want your child to do well and be happy, but you're unsure what will help. It can be difficult to find the right resources to address: low self-esteem, anxiety, depression, behavioral outbursts, and difficulty maintaining positive relationships. I specialize in working with children ages 3+ to improve functioning and establish healthy family connection.

Child Therapists

Do I need to attend therapy with my child?

Parents are an integral part of a child’s therapy, but the specifics of their involvement vary. If your child is young, you may attend most or all sessions; if your child is older, you may attend a few sessions or none; sometimes a therapist may ask you to have a session on your own. Whatever the arrangement, you should expect to work collaboratively with the therapist, your child, and your family members to take steps to help support your child.

How long are sessions with child therapists?

Children’s therapy sessions can last 30 minutes, 45 minutes, or 60 minutes. The length of the session may depend on your child’s age and the type of therapy practiced. You can discuss this with therapists you consult and the one you ultimately move forward with.

How do I get a child to agree to seek therapy?

The best approach is to have an open-ended conversation with your child about how they’re doing and what they might be struggling with. When you raise therapy, discuss the concept in an age-appropriate way, for example explaining that a therapist’s job is to help kids handle their hard or uncomfortable feelings. Frame therapy positively, as an opportunity to explore and build emotional skills—it’s an important tool in the toolbox to help kids feel their best.

How can I tell if a therapist is a good fit for my child?

A child needs to feel comfortable opening up about their thoughts and feelings, so if your child feels a sense of comfort, ease, and trust with their therapist, that’s a great sign. In addition, a therapist is a good fit for your child if the two can communicate well together; a clinician should be able to communicate clearly, effectively, and in an age-appropriate manner.
