Are you silently struggling while experiencing sadness, anxiousness and/or stress from day to day? As life and certain relationships can be challenging, we may find ourselves wondering what to do in order to stop the unwanted stress. For those who are parents with a struggling child or
adolescent
, do you feel like you’ve tried everything to help and instead feel stuck? Fear of the unknown prevents many individuals from reaching out and finding the right professional that is a suitable match to support healthy change. Challenges are real and there is help.

Well-Being.
“Courage does not always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying I will try again tomorrow”- Mary Anne Ramacher. It’s okay if we’re the quiet voice willing to try again tomorrow. I’m here to help support that voice, however loud or quiet. I believe that therapy is like building a tool box, your therapist helps you learn how to use all the tools you have in your box and encourages you to use them properly. The toolbox you build is one you can always keep with you and utilize whenever you need it. See if I'm accepting new clients and book online at www.resolutioncc.com/team

Your
teen
is going through a difficult time in their life. Teenage years are filled with self doubt, questioning identity, anxiety, depression, behavioral issues, relationship problems, family conflict, and school difficulties. A lot of teens keep their feelings and issues inside. It is normal for them to start to share less with their parents. Therapy can help your
teen
to open up to a professional about the issues they are experiencing and to process their feelings better so that they can feel their best. As a
teen
therapist, I build rapport rapidly with teens and they enjoy having a safe place to talk about their problems.

Children today are facing more challenges than ever. The demands of school, friendships, social media, and life changes can take a toll on mental health. You might be seeing changes in your child or
teen
like irritability, worry, sadness, lack of motivation, and aggression. Parenting can be overwhelming and you are yearning for your child's success. Children and teens might be feeling misunderstood; trust could be broken, and the family dynamic could be shaken up. Our goal is to improve your child’s emotional well-being by increasing their coping skills in all aspects of life while also providing support for you as the parent.

I know it can be frustrating for adults with ADD/ADHD to find someone who really gets it. You've been told to "just" make a to-do list, or "just" buy a planner... If only it were that simple! ADHD is not simply a disorder among people who forgot to buy calendars. It is a different arrangement of wiring in the brain which comes with challenges, along with unique strengths and abilities. With patience and self-acceptance, you can improve your functioning and habits to begin making real progress towards your goals. Having the guidance of a caring professional who understands ADHD makes this process much less painful.

I specialize in working with adults dealing with internal conflicts. Struggling at work or in your relationship and unable to effectively communicate those feelings and needs? Adjusting to NYC or moving back to your home town? Confused about the path you chose? Is everyone around you getting married, having a baby or landing their dream job and can't make sense of all this? Comparing yourself to others on social media? Through exploration of your personal story, we can process, accept, and let go of unhealthy patterns. I have strong engagement skills, aware of how therapy feels.

Life is a journey, and in an increasingly connected world our ability to find balance may prove to be challenging and increase emotional vulnerabilities. "Down time" becomes less and less due to the pressures of society or of our own negative tapes that we play . My main focus is to reconnect and build a therapeutic relationship in an environment where the individual can work on formulating positive communication, set realistic personal goals, identify patterns of behaviors, and work on resolving issues in the here and now.

Teen Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.
How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.
How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.
How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
