Change is a fundamental truth of the healing process. We must learn to be comfortable with the uncomfortable, seek deeper self awareness, and develop security in order to expand. My clients are navigating ordinary life challenges. They crave healing and wholeness, and peace. Along the way, they discover awe, gratitude and find the extraordinary within themselves. They trust there is growth in this liminal space. This is my wheelhouse. I specialize in attachment and relationships and believe they are the foundation of our ability to heal. As we heal our relationship with ourselves, we show up more fully in relationship with others.

I bring over twenty years of experience supporting children, adolescents, and families across community, outpatient, and school settings. I began my social work career in the UK, where I specialized in working with young people in foster care and those transitioning out of the system. This experience shaped my belief in the importance of understanding each individual’s unique circumstances, strengths, and challenges. After relocating to New Jersey in 2012, I earned my Master’s in Social Work from Rutgers University in 2020. Since then, I have worked with adults, adolescents, children, and parents in outpatient and school settings.

I have over 30 years of experience working with children, adolescents and their families, as well as individual adults, in independent practice, school and hospital settings. While I work with patients presenting with a wide range of issues and concerns I specialize in working with neurologically or developmentally 'atypical' children and adolescents - ADHD, learning disabilities, autism spectrum, etc. I often work with those neurodevelopmentally atypical children, adolescent and young adults who don't easily fit into these kinds of standard diagnostic categories. I look for and develop strengths, resiliencies and resources.

I serve leaders who have hit an invisible ceiling. Their sharp mind, once their greatest asset, now creates cycles of hesitation and second-guessing. The cost is no longer just stress; it's lost revenue and eroded authority. They don't want to just understand this pattern—they need a definitive protocol to break it and reclaim their command.

You're at the crossroads, transitioning out of a relationship, job, or stage of life. Something fell apart, or fell into your lap, and it's overwhelming to imagine the next steps. You sense that you've outgrown the mask and you're ready to rebuild something real. You are an empathic person who cares deeply about the state of the world and your inner spark is dim. Imagine yourself more connected to your Self - all the parts, including those in the shadows. Imagine having better ways of relating to yourself and to others and an ability to step in the each day with a renewed sense of purpose and a sparkle in your eye.

Friend, you are meant to bloom - not shrink. Our weight-obsessed culture chastises and shames you, as though your body size is not only a personal moral failing, but a reliable indicator of poor "health" (and therefore your worth). Over time, you internalize this anti-fat bias, and often treat yourself with the same level of contempt. You either avoid medical care altogether, or expose yourself to the risks of weight stigma (far more harmful than any presumed adverse effect of your weight itself). You question how to nourish yourself – forbidding yourself food, isolating in shame for a binge, "paying" via purge or exercise. Enough.

I believe that every individual deserves to be genuinely heard, understood, and valued. Uncertainty can trigger memories of feeling lost and emotionally alone. The purpose of therapy is to have a safe space for identifying and processing thoughts, feelings, and automatic reactions. Relying on an experiential, relational approach, I help my clients to explore their thoughts and feelings to completion. Empathy and compassion evolve in this process, and clients feel whole and safe again. Our goal is to transform what feels uncomfortable into that which feels certain and sure

Finding a clinician who can serve as a pivotal source of support as well as an agent for change can be difficult. Treatment must be carefully tailored to assist with the unique stresses you face, while using the best available evidence in the field to inform the process. I have a long history of working with young adults as well as teenagers and their families. My work has extended to include treatment with individuals, couples, and parent child work. Patients see me for a wide range of concerns including anxiety, obsessive compulsive symptoms, post traumatic stress, mood concerns, and general difficulty regulating emotions.

Have you been thinking about therapy for a while, wondering if it's right for you? Are you looking for change in your life or to address trauma from the past or work on parenting skills? These are questions which we may ask ourselves. I enjoy working with clients who are interested in change, increasing self-awareness, identifying patterns of thoughts and behaviors that shape their lives and then trying to reconfigure these in positive, growth-oriented ways. While I work with clients of all ages, I do have deeper experience working with college and post-college aged adults, and parents, and anyone dealing with life transitions.

My practice offers caring and knowledgeable support. It takes courage to pursue therapy, so I provide a warm and non-judgmental environment in which effective therapy can take place. Areas of specialty include anxiety, depression, postpartum depression, grief and loss, life transitions and relationship issues. In my practice I help you to consider and honor your whole self : mind, body emotions and spirit. Different approaches are called for at different times in life. Sometimes you just need extra support and coping strategies to get through a rough time, or sometimes going deeper to gain insight will transform old patterns.

Whether a result of past trauma or present circumstances, we can work together to explore and address wounds and patterns that keep you stuck and help you to live a life that feels good to you.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
