I specialize in working with
women
, queer
women
, and non binary people.
Maybe others would look at you and think everything is fine, great even - but inside, you struggle. You might consider yourself an over-achiever or people-pleaser, even if you come off as independent. We'll define the main issues in your life, whether based in the past/present/future and identify strategies to help you feel less stressed in the day to day, while also exploring your experiences to gain a deeper understanding of the story of how you came to be who you are, and write the story you want for your life moving forward.

In working with
women
and men who are struggling with life's hurts and even more difficult losses and traumas, psychotherapy is the opportunity for them to find a re-balancing,or perhaps a balance for the first time in their lives, of their mind, body, and spirit.
I work well with a client who has experienced some type of sexual, psychological, or religious trauma in their lives. In my sessions with this client, first I assess the level of trauma, help the client to build rapport with me, as well as trust. Secondly, I work to rebuild the client's life in terms of symptom management. Thirdly, the client and I form a partnership to improve relationship skills, thereby enabling the client to re-establish a sense of community. Finally, I value helping the client to rebalance his or her life in mind, body, and spirit.

The stress of trying to manage it all when it feels like you're drowning is exhausting! I specialize in working with
women
feeling overwhelmed by relationship issues, parenting challenges, a devastating loss, or traumatic event. My clients often struggle with feeling depleted; they're tired, their thoughts keep racing, the anxiety's overwhelming, and they can feel very stuck and alone with their pain. It's a lot! And when life stressors occur it's ok to not feel ok, it's human. Some who are used to doing things on their own may question why healing would be any different and so continue to suffer. You don't need to go it alone.

Female Therapists
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
