I have worked successfully within this model to address depression, anxiety , eating disorders, issues arising from life transitions, longstanding relational issues, among many others.
Throughout my many years serving a young adult/adult population, I have gained a great respect for working collaboratively with each client to understand the most effective approach for the individual. My approach involves providing a nonjudgmental therapeutic environment in which we can gain a greater awareness of the individual's unique concerns and work from this awareness to affect change in the present.

I work with those who are looking for support and guidance around anxiety , OCD, stress management, self-esteem, self-compassion and emotion regulation skills.
I’m so happy you’re on this site and thinking about therapy. There are many factors to consider when picking a therapist and, most importantly, you want it to be the right fit for you. The relationship between a therapist and client is the strongest indicator for success in treatment and my goal is to create a safe and secure environment. My professional and personal mindset is to be a lifelong learner. I’m always learning from clients, as there is no single approach to therapy. I believe in meeting you where you are, working side-by-side to achieve your goals and together finding the best path to help you heal and grow.

There, I grew a love for studying anxiety , depression, race-related stress, and PTSD, particularly among the Black community.
Change can be intimidating, but it can also be healthy. I approach therapy in a collaborative manner where the client leads the direction, while I support from the sideline. I actively listen and create a space of authenticity, openness, care, respect, non-judgment, flexibility, and warmth. I assist clients with finding meaning in life stressors and pivoting in ways that make everyday life easier and enjoyable to help clients exude power, happiness, and resilience. I also help clients with becoming more empathetic towards themselves as well as with others.

I have been working with families, individuals and couples for 35 years to identify and explore recurring patterns that prevent a person from living a rich, fulfilling and meaningful life. I collaborate with clients, using a Family Systems framework, to explore those issues that are contributing to relationship conflict, work difficulties and low self-esteem that often result in anxiety , depression and addiction. Our work together will explore roles, patterns, and conflicts in one's family of origin as well as how they continue to impede one's life in the present.

Do you want to heal your relationship with your inner Self? Are you ready to befriend your inner Self and find your voice to overcome life’s battles? Are you ready for a life that is more Self led? A life where the YOU get to make the decisions rather than your eating disorder, anxiety , depression or trauma? Are you searching for an overall feeling of freedom? You are probably exhausted from managing all these differing parts that seem to leave you feeling anxious, depressed and alone. You feel you have lost your authentic Self.

Skills and focus include relationship struggles within couples, families, or work; sexual abuse, LGBT, bereavement, anxiety /depression.
Therapy enables you to live more fully, with increased awareness and self-acceptance. However, it requires that you trust someone to travel with you to difficult places you might otherwise avoid. Whether you are experiencing a difficult life transition, wrestling with a problematic pattern, or wish to have a better relationship with yourself or others, it is important to feel that you are working with someone attuned to your needs and knowledgeable about how to handle them.

I also specialize in helping young adults with anxiety , depression, challenges with identity, relationship issues, trauma, grief, and school/work issues through CBT, Psychodynamic and Person-Centered modalities.
People today are facing more challenges than ever. Perhaps it may feel as though the weight of the world is unbearable and defeating. Ruth Bader Ginsburg once said, “So often in life, things that you regard as an impediment turn out to be great, good fortune.” I strongly believe in the inner strengths of the human-being through empowerment and resiliency. My goal is to help you understand that prioritizing your own emotional well-being is the first step towards a happier, healthier life.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
