None of us can leave this planet without experiencing loss . We all grieve in our own way on our own unique grief journey. I've made it my life's mission to help those who've experienced loss of a loved one, loss due to divorce, life altering illness or injury, and other types of loss . You’ve come to this place because you've experienced a life-altering loss . Something has happened that has changed the trajectory of your life. The road ahead may seem confusing — riddled with sadness, heartache, and maybe even fear. You might wonder what comes next, what comes AFTERWARDS.

This gentle process of listening is helpful with many issues: co-dependency, trust, action blocks, grief , relationship patterns, painful patterns of behavior, unlived desires, depression, work dissatisfaction/career, opening to love, unworthiness, spirituality, intimacy, ob/gyn issues.
My work combines psychoanalytic therapy with helping people learn how to listen to the unique and creative way in which our body carries wisdom, information and unprocessed experiences. It is important for us to tell the story of what has happened to us and to have our stories held in a compassionate manner. If we already know our story and find ourselves still stuck in old behaviors, thoughts and patterns, then learning to listen and experience how our bodies hold meaning for what's still unresolved or unknown is a valuable skill.

With previous experience in hospice and pediatric oncology social work, I see clients for grief , loss or bereavement issues.
Why is it difficult to call a stranger for help, for counseling? Most likely because the caller is vulnerable and sometimes it is hard to ask for help. My goal, as a therapist, is to explore ways with my clients to help them get past what it is that is troubling them. I want to help my clients build a bridge to a healthier future.

My speciality is working with individuals experiencing issues with stress, anxiety, depression, addiction, over-eating, grief and trauma. My approach is to first identify existing coping strategies to deal with the current stressors. Together, we sort out the underlying problems and identify and develop a tool kit with more effective coping strategies for the many challenges that the world throws at you. We examine and re-frame your emotional reactions to current and past trauma. The relationship between therapist and client is really important for change; and I do my best to provide a warm, natural, humorous and relaxed atmosphere.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
