Some uses for testing: improve diagnosis of ADD / ADHD , including adult ADD / ADHD , autism spectrum, learning disorders, and other issues; document need for accommodations in school, at work, and on SAT, ACT, LSAT, MCAT, etc.
I have been a psychologist for nearly 40 years. I spend most of my professional time doing neuropsychological evaluations of children, adolescents, and adults. Neuropsychological testing gives a clear picture of how people think and how their minds work, and it is often the best way to understand what is going on when someone is struggling with some aspect of their life. I have also worked for many years as a therapist.

My ideal client is someone open to the process of therapy. Someone who is willing to show up for themselves, and “put in the work”. My client may be someone dealing with anxiety, depression, or challenges of ADHD , such as Rejection Sensitivity Dysphoria. My client may be feeling in a rut or “stuck” in personal aspects of their life. My client may be challenged by different phases and stages of life, by not feeling capable or feeling easily overwhelmed. They want to engage in therapy and work on achieving their personal goals in a space where they are seen, heard, validated and encouraged.

I have a great deal of experience working with those struggling with depression/anxiety/bipolar disorder/ ADHD /gender identity issues/and substance abuse related issues.
I love to help others. It has been my passion ever since I was a teenager. I want to be a positive support and teach others how to be the best version of themselves. It is so rewarding to be part of another person's journey and see them accomplish their goals. I also want to be the major point of support for someone that I wish I had and needed when I was younger.

Clients, as well as therapists, come in all shapes and sizes. When it comes to finding a good fit in a therapist, clients should feel safe and comfortable to be able to open up over time. Personality plays a huge role in compatibility. Down to earth, approachable, and relaxed are three qualities that describe my persona. I strive to provide clients with a safe space to feel respected, heard, and understood. I support clients in building effective communication skills, fostering meaningful relationships, practicing appropriate social skills, utilizing healthy coping strategies, and to establish and maintain healthy boundaries.

Some of the issues my ideal client would be dealing with would be lacking information on community resources, self-knowledge, family dynamics, self-regulation techniques, and would be probably dealing with fear and nervousness to deal with everyday situations. Goals for this client would be to decrease anxiety/depressive symptoms by being more in control of emotions and behaviors to the point autonomy and self-control are increased and therapy is not necessary anymore. This client would want to be more in control of his/her thoughts and behaviors because he/she probably feels like a victim of the system.

ADHD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?

You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.

How does treatment for ADHD work?

Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.

Are there specific medications for ADHD?

Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.

How long does treatment for ADHD take?

It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
