In my experience, the best way to address a problem is head-on. If we avoid the things, people, and places that are stressing us out we only prolong our feelings of anxiety and depression. I believe this policy sticks whether we are dealing with avoiding cleaning a messy house, walking on eggshells with a significant other, or feeling at a loss when your child just doesn't listen. My solution-focused approach to problem solving is ideal for assisting you in many of life's challenging moments.

Making change is a big part of counseling. In order to make change there needs to be motivation and with that motivation comes strength. Whether a client is experiencing anxiety , depression, abuse, crisis, conflict, behavioral issues, substance use, etc., it is important to find the inner strength each person has and use that to their advantage. Let me help you find your inner strength! I am trained in EMDR and becoming certified in Sand Tray Therapy. I am also working towards my License as a Clinical Alcohol and Drug Counselor.

I believe everyone deserves to be seen and heard for who they truly are. Sometimes, due to life experiences and events, we lose track of who we are. We are left feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, sad, lost, angry, and not ourselves. Let's work together and explore all the possibilities your life has to offer you.

Whether you are dealing with specific issues such as medication, depression, anxiety or relationship problems, poor life skills, or striving to gain a better understanding of thoughts and behavior patterns, we can help you efficiently work toward achieving these goals in a warm, caring environment.
One of the most important factors of successful counseling is to have a good connection with your therapist. Every person entering therapy deserves to have an individualized approach that will meet their specific goals. At Mindful Solutions NJ, we offer a free initial phone consultation so you have the chance to learn about the therapist you would work with prior to committing to fees or a long-term therapeutic relationship. During your consultation, we'll discuss your reasons for seeking counseling. You'll also have the chance to learn about your potential counselor's education, training and counseling approach.

Wellness is a matter of balance. Anyone who struggles with addiction, depression, anxiety , bipolar disorder, PTSD, or ANY experience of overwhelming emotion, can relate to a sense of imbalance. Often times we develop strategies to tip the scale. Unfortunately, we may find strategies that become part of a cycle of avoidance. I can help you break this cycle by creating strategies that promote balance, rather than a constant see-saw.

Welcome! I’m so glad you’re here. I know sometimes the journey to finding help may be bumpy. So give yourself some props for making it here. At times we all face struggles internal, external, and often a combination of both. I have observed that often we can feel stuck from these experiences, even if we’ve tried to move on from them. That is because we need a little guidance to process and buff out the imprint that remains in our system. It is my hope to help facilitate a path to finding more ease, feeling better, and move towards the life you want.

Anxiety Therapists

What are the most common treatments for anxiety?

Talk therapy, particularly cognitive behavioral therapy, is the most common treatment for anxiety. Studies have shown it is equally effective as medication. Other popular forms of therapy are popular, depending on a patient’s experience. Exposure therapy, for instance, can be useful for people dealing with fears and phobias, or who have experienced traumatic events. Dialectical Behavioral Therapy may be useful for patients who need help with emotion regulation. Anxiolytic medications, like benzodiazepines, can also help with calming a person enough to focus on the skills they’ve learned, and physical exercise has been shown to help symptoms of anxiety across the board.

How long does therapy for anxiety take to work?

The amount of time needed to alleviate symptoms depends on the severity of a person’s condition. Some therapies may take 5-20 weekly sessions to show results. Anti-depressant medications typically take two to four weeks before a benefit is felt. Anti-anxiety medications are felt typically within 20-30 minutes. Medications are best used to offer a patient a better headspace in which to work on techniques learned in therapy. Exercise, improved sleep habits, and meditation are effective, but takes weeks or months to show results.

When should I seek treatment for anxiety?

Everyone feels anxious at times, but when anxiety causes disruption to your daily life, it may be time to seek help. Such disruption can be mental, physical, or both: having fear dominate your thoughts, avoiding situations or objects that bring on feelings of anxiety, or experiencing shortness of breath, sweating, dizziness, or panic attacks. When these symptoms are recurrent and distressing, it may be time to talk to someone.

How effective is treatment for anxiety?

Treatment for anxiety has been shown to be moderately to highly effective, according to a large body of psychology studies and analyses. For some people, treatment using CBT or exposure therapy alone is effective. Others respond best to a combination of medication and therapy.
