I have practiced as a licensed counselor for 6 years in out-patient settings, community outreach case management programs, hospitals, and high schools. I have 4 years of experience working as a mobile crisis counselor and a psychiatric emergency room clinician where I completed intakes and assessments to determine treatment outcome. I dedicated much of my skills in crisis intervention, de-escalation, and prevention, for individuals of all ages and all diagnoses.

I aim to give you a safe space to discover and explore your thoughts & emotions. Who we are has a direct or indirect connection of our parents, significant others, children, employers, etc. Life gives tough challenges and things can seem overwhelming. You and your relationships can get better with the right therapist aiding you through your change. I encourage you to learn healthier coping skills by giving yourself compassion.

Counseling is available for individuals faced with the challenges of depression, anxiety, substance abuse, dual diagnosis, trauma and relationship challenges. Counseling is provided within the warm and professional space at South Main Street Counseling Center in a therapeutic environment which allows individuals to maximize their abilities to create meaningful changes and enhance their independence and peace. Clients are encouraged and supported to explore those issues which are impacting relationships and well being.

Kristine earned her MSW from Rutgers University Graduate School of Social Work in 2007 and her post-graduate certification in Sex Therapy from Council for Relationships in 2014. She is intensively trained in DBT and has worked at Princeton House Behavioral Health for over 12 years in their PHP/IOP programs. She has extensive experience in treating mood and anxiety disorders, substance abuse, trauma/PTSD, and self-harm with adolescents and adults. Her approach is holistic, incorporating mind, body and spirit in her clinical work.

I work with older teenagers and adults experiencing conflict, which can contribute to anxiety, depression, and adjustment issues. Many of my clients are in transitional life phases when miscommunications and disagreements are most likely to emerge—especially with loved ones. I offer practical skills for communicating through conflict so clients can fully express themselves, feel understood, and use the situation as an opportunity to build the relationship.

I am a Licensed Social Worker with a passion for decreasing the stigma surrounding mental health and promoting the health and well being of my clients. For my undergraduate degree, I moved from Central Jersey (Yes! It exists!) to South Jersey to attend Stockton University. I received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Social Work with a Minor in Behavioral Neuroscience from Stockton, and then moved on to attend graduate school in Philadelphia. I received my Master of Social Work Degree with a clinical concentration from the University of Pennsylvania’s School of Social Policy and Practice in May of 2020.

The ideal client is anyone who acknowledges they are open to change. As Yogi Berra famously said, "Ninety percent of this game is half mental, the other half is physical." Openness to thinking in new ways and then backing that up with new behaviors is crucial to successful change.

I have 23 years of training and experience working with adults who struggle with low self-esteem, imposter syndrome, anxiety, depression, bipolar, and anger. I'm also very experienced with clients working on transitions such as going to college, new job, marriage, starting a family, a divorce, or coping with a past or recent trauma. I've worked for many years in drug treatment too. I think clients are looking for a way to gain insight and awareness of how challenges effect their thinking, and want to learn new skills to improve how they feel and function in the world.
