Lighthouse Counseling & Sand Play Training Center, LLC was conceived in 2000 in a tiny office in Point Pleasant Beach, New Jersey by Gretchen Morgan and Mary Pat McGeehin. Their search for effective treatment led them to include the use of Sand Play Therapy, EMDR, yoga and therapeutic group work with their clients. This was in response to the expanding body of research which illustrated that the mind-body connection was integral to the healing of mental health issues. In 2004, they expanded their practice to include like-minded affiliate clinicians and moved to a larger facility in Eatontown, New Jersey.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) with over 11 years of experience in the mental health field. I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Fairleigh Dickinson University and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Rutgers University. I have the most experience working with clients who experience issues managing stress, anxiety, phobias, adjusting to life transitions, ADHD, parenting challenges, bipolar disorder, and depression.

Clients come with a range of issues, but their fundamental needs often align. They seek someone who can genuinely listen without judgment and offering them the tools they need to navigate the challenges they face. Above all, clients long to be heard and have their feelings validated with empathy.

My ideal clients are women who've recently realized they've suffered from narcissistic abuse. These brave individuals seek therapy whilst feeling sad, confused, scared, and angry, torn between the truth and the illusion of their past relationships. At first, they struggle to identify and express their needs due to codependency. My goal is to provide compassionate support and guidance to help them navigate this challenging journey towards healing and self-discovery.

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) with a Bachelor's Degree from Montclair State University in Psychology and a Master's Degree from Kean University in Psychology. I have over 13 years of experience working with adolescents, adults, couples, and families in a variety of mental healthcare settings. I am able to help clients with a wide array of concerns from moderate to severe anxiety and depression as well as relationship issues, family conflict, parenting, grief, interpersonal skill building, stress management, navigating life transitions, and more.

My ideal client is someone who may not understand how their past (trauma) or individual issues (diagnosis, etc.) may be impacting their daily lives. Someone who is still learning to leverage their strengths to overcome life challenges. They may struggle to cope, to have healthy interpersonal relationships, to effectively manage their emotions. Their primary goal would be to understand what they are feeling or have experienced & why that matters in the context of their life. While they do not yet have the language or knowledge to facilitate this, they're open to receiving it visa vie therapy.

Their needs include being heard & understood. Goals can be to develop more confidence in themselves and to make friends. Teens and adolescents just want to know that someone cares & is not judging them for their thoughts or feelings. This is due to the fact that they might not feel comfortable talking to family and sometimes friends about what's going on.
