I have particular expertise in the areas of depression , anxiety and obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD).
Most people enter therapy looking to change some aspect of their lives. Some people know exactly how they want their lives to be different and simply need help developing skills to achieve their goals. Other people may need to spend more time determining exactly what type of change they need.

I work with many issues including but not limited to: depression , anxiety, grief/loss, trauma, addiction, life management issues, parenting issues, learning disabilities, bipolar disorder, serious illness, employment related issues and adjustment to life changes.
Sometimes life gets complicated. Confronting and discussing your feelings requires strength. In my experience, things that are never discussed are never resolved. The decision to ask for help with your concerns is a tremendous step forward. When choosing a counselor, look for someone you can easily sit across from. Then ask yourself, do you feel heard? I have listened to hundreds of stories. I respect each one as it reflects that person's journey through life. I feel privileged to play a part in that journey. I promise to do my best to help you find your way! Thank you.

Coping with depression , anxiety, addiction, or even just life stressors can at times feel overwhelming. It's like you are stuck in a cycle of pain and anguish, and your best efforts to deal with it end up making things worse. Maybe you have reached out to friends and family for help, and have been met with either criticism or well-intentioned, but unhelpful advice. You might have even read a self-help book or two, and struggled to use what you've learned for more than a couple weeks. Sometimes, even the efforts to change seem so difficult that you'll give up, convinced things will never get better. There is a better way.

I have 10+ years of experience working with children, adolescents and adults experiencing depression , anxiety, panic attacks, PTSD, mood disorders as well as life’s stressors.
The past year has been extremely difficult for so many and may have caused or exacerbated emotional health issues. It’s normal to feel stuck, lost or a need to recover lost parts of you. I can help you if you feel weighed down or drained of energy, feel depressed or have anxious thoughts, or lack enjoyment in your life like you use too. I know it can be hard to take the first step and ask for help, however, a new transition and transformation for your life is just around the corner. My professional focus is to work with individuals to help them find a greater sense of self and purpose in the midst of life's hardships.

I have over 20 years of experience working with individuals, couples and families from diverse backgrounds and a range of presenting issues. I have been successful in treating adolescents and adults for depression , anxiety, stress management, marital and relationship difficulties, anger management, and Attention Deficit Disorder. My philosophy is that people are often resistant to change as the change is unknown. I help them explore what that change would look and feel like and how it could improve their lives if they do decide to make those changes.

Psychotherapy helps individuals, couples, and families work through painful and pressing difficulties. For some the difficulties are depression , anxiety, loss of sense of self or direction. For others, there is a failed relationship or one endangered by betrayal(s) or years of inadequate communication. I believe therapy must be focused, fair, and safe. Our success will depend on the quality of our working relationship. If we work together, I will make a serious commitment to your well being.

There are times when navigating life's difficulties can be especially challenging and you're not quite sure how you'll get through. You may be feeling overwhelmed with stressful situations, facing periods of transition, experiencing anxiety and/or depression , reeling from a break-up, inundated by waves of grief, or feeling stuck in dysfunctional family life. There's no doubt that you're doing the best you know how to do to cope with difficult emotions, yet you're still finding that you're struggling to function in daily life like you used to or want to. Reaching out for help is the first step in taking charge of your wellbeing.

Depression Therapists
Depressive disorders are characterized by persistent feelings of sadness and worthlessness and a lack of desire to engage in formerly pleasurable activities. Depression is not a passing blue mood, which almost everyone experiences from time to time, but a complex mind/body illness that interferes with everyday functioning. It not only darkens one's outlook, it is commonly marked by sleep problems and changes in energy levels and appetite. It alters the structure and function of nerve cells so that it disrupts the way the brain processes information and interprets experience.

Despite feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness, depression is a treatable condition. It can be treated with psychotherapy. As with many illnesses, the earlier treatment begins, the more effective it can be and the greater the likelihood that recurrence can be prevented.

Psychotherapy addresses the thinking patterns that precipitate depression, and studies show that it prevents recurrence. Drug therapy is often helpful in relieving symptoms, such as severe anxiety, so that people can engage in meaningful psychotherapy.
