One of the most important aspects in therapy is for a person to feel heard, to be respected, and to be understood. Each individual is unique and therefore no one issue is ever the same among different people. I utilize an integrative approach to meet the needs of the person, not the "problem". Trust is paramount in the therapeutic setting and I strive to create a safe and empathetic environment to facilitate growth.

I offer therapy and assessments/evaluations in person, telehealth, or a combination of both.
Life is filled with many opportunities as well as challenges. My goal is to help children and adolescents recognize and seize those opportunities and overcome any challenges and obstacles that get in their way. By helping them create a positive mindset, build effective coping strategies, and expand their repertoire of problem-solving skills, they can live a healthy, satisfying, and successful social and academic life. The earlier these skills are cultivated within the child or adolescent, the greater the opportunities to practice and utilize them to their benefit.

To me, therapy is all about learning how to manage life’s challenges in a way that promotes growth, balance, and well-being. My goals are to empower clients to find their strengths so that they can build meaningful and rewarding lives. This doesn’t mean restraining our emotions or leading a life free of problems, but instead building our ability to meet struggles head-on with the energy and resources that we have available.

A lot of us are unaware of our core beliefs and how much they impact every part of our life. I will help you identify the beliefs that are preventing you from becoming the best version of yourself. As we peel back the onion I will teach you how to meet every part of yourself with compassion. My hope is that throughout our time together you will create a new vision for your life that is not tainted by your past or your limiting beliefs.

I have been working in the mental health field for over 10 years now. For 7 years, I worked in an intensive outpatient setting as a foundationally trained DBT therapist providing education on PTSD, symptom stabilization and the ways trauma can impact many areas of life. In recent years, I've continued my work in outpatient settings, supporting clients as they move toward meaningful personal goals. Across all of my experience, one truth has remained constant: the foundation of effective therapy is the relationship between client and therapist. Healing begins with connection- with trust and the experience of feeling truly seen.

Areas of specialty include working with teens and adults navigating the complexities of ADHD, late diagnosed/self realized ASD, and LGBTQ+ identities, as well as the experiences often accompanying these neurotypes and identities, such as anxiety, depression, people pleasing, and perfectionism. I also work with adults who are part of the ethically non-monogamous, polyamorous, or kink communities. As somebody with lived experience being neurodivergent, queer/trans, and polyamorous I can offer unique support and perspective to help fellow community members heal and grow.

FAQ - About In Person Therapy
What are the benefits of in-person therapy?
In-person therapy offers several benefits that some people find highly valuable for their mental health treatment. Being present in the same room as your therapist can create a stronger sense of connection and allow for more nuanced communication through body language. Some people may also find it easier to focus in therapy when they are in a dedicated space and away from potential distractions related to home or work; attending an in-person session provides a clear boundary between therapy time and the rest of your life. For certain therapeutic approaches, such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), exposure therapy, or somatic therapy, being in person may be particularly important, as these therapies benefit from the therapist being able to observe and respond to a client’s physical cues effectively. Additionally, some individuals simply feel more comfortable discussing sensitive or painful topics when they are face-to-face with their therapist rather than on a screen.

When should I choose in-person therapy over online therapy?
In-person therapy may be a better choice when you need a structured therapeutic environment separate from your daily life, when you find it difficult to focus or feel comfortable in an online setting, or when privacy at home is a concern. It may also be more appropriate if you are dealing with severe mental health symptoms that require close monitoring or if your therapy involves approaches that rely heavily on observing physical cues. On the other hand, if convenience, scheduling flexibility, or access to specialists outside your immediate area are priorities, online therapy may be a better fit. Many therapists offer both options, so you can also discuss with a provider which format might work best for your specific situation.

How do I find an in-person therapist?
You can use Psychology Today's therapist directory to find an in-person therapist in your area. You can search by location, insurance accepted, specialty areas, therapeutic approaches, and other criteria to narrow down providers who meet your needs. Each therapist profile includes information about their credentials, areas of expertise, and whether they offer in-person sessions. Once you have identified potential therapists, you can contact them directly through the directory to schedule an initial consultation and determine whether they are a good fit before committing to ongoing treatment. When reaching out, it can be helpful to confirm their availability for in-person appointments, their office location, and whether they accept your insurance.
