September is upon us and I know life moves fast and beneath the weight of strained relationships, toxic work environments, and an overwhelming news cycle, your authentic self can feel buried. The pressures of everyday life make carving out space for healing feel impossible, yet that space is exactly what you deserve. Whether you're navigating this journey as an individual, couple, or family, therapy offers a path to unpack past pain, reconnect with who you truly are, and show up more fully in every area of your life.

There's a lot that could be said here, so I'll keep it simple. I help couples and individuals find the insight, skills, and resources they need to cultivate full and meaningful lives. First-time-therapy-goers, anxious folks, and couples who have a hard time bridging the gap between emotions and logic all seem to appreciate the work we do. I'm a relational therapist, meaning that I feel like a normal human when we talk, but also that I understand and appreciate the investment this can be. Wherever you find yourself, my aim is always to take that investment seriously and facilitate genuine and lasting change.

YOU can call me Cathy. I am an experienced Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC), and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP). In many ways, there is still a stigma around receiving mental health services. For some, their previous experiences (or experiences of those close to them) have made it difficult to reach out for help. I’m here to tell you the field of mental health has evolved, much like I have as a psychotherapist throughout my career. During my studies at Monmouth University, I learned to pride myself on being authentic with clients, in and out of session.

Feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or weighed down by trauma, anxiety, grief, relationship challenges, or major life transitions? You’re not alone. Many of my clients have felt the same, often after spending so much time caring for others or pushing through life’s demands that they’ve lost touch with themselves and their own needs. They come to therapy seeking a deeper understanding of themselves, clarity about their experiences, and meaningful, lasting change. Some are new to therapy, while others are ready to go deeper and do more focused healing work.

You’re burnt out, and the pressure to keep it all together wears you down. Maybe you juggle family, school, or work while trying to stay composed. Inside, you feel exhausted, overwhelmed, and stressed. You might seem "put together" but quietly struggle with imposter syndrome, self-doubt, and worry. Therapy can help you quiet your inner critic, reconnect with yourself, and reduce doomscrolling. Hi, I’m Chris. I offer a collaborative space to show up as you are, explore what feels heavy, and make room for change, growth, and even a little laughter.

You're feeling stuck, anxious, or emotionally drained... like you're carrying the weight of everything but still falling behind. Maybe you're navigating burnout, a major life transition, the emotional toll of IVF, or the identity shifts that come with motherhood and new parenthood. You might be in therapy already and craving something deeper, or on a waitlist and needing support now. You're ready to stop managing and start actually shifting what's beneath the surface. Whatever brought you here, you're in the right place.

Together we'll embrace these responses and heal the wounds beneath them with compassion and understanding - until silence becomes song, closed doors open to new horizons, and isolation gives way to intimacy.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapists
What is Internal Family Systems therapy?
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a type of talk therapy that focuses on sub-personalities, or “families,” within a person, which may be made up of wounded parts and unpleasant emotions like anger and shame. These sub-personalities can come into conflict with each other and with an individual’s core Self, leaving the person feeling detached from positive traits such as the “8 C’s” of confidence, calmness, creativity, clarity, curiosity, courage, compassion, and connectedness. By healing a patient’s wounded parts, a therapist aims to restore balance and bring on positive change.

How does Internal Family Systems therapy work?
An IFS therapist will work with a patient to identify their particular sub-personalities, recognize the emotions powering them, and release them. By doing so, the patient should become more able to address any underlying problems their sub-personalities may have been trying to protect them from. Ultimately, a patient discovers ways to manage internal and external conflicts on their own, through techniques such as relaxation exercises, journaling, and making charts depicting the relationships between their core Self and their distinct parts.

Does Internal Family Systems therapy work?
IFS therapy has been shown to help people address conditions such as depression, anxiety, panic, fears and phobias, trauma, and substance use disorders. Some research has also found that it can help individuals deal with symptoms of physical health conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, such as pain, everyday functioning, depressive feelings, and low self-compassion. There are some conditions for which IFS treatment, specifically discussions of one’s “parts,” may be less appropriate, such as schizophrenia or other states that involve psychosis or paranoia.

How long does Internal Family Systems therapy take?
As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for IFS therapy. After becoming comfortable with a therapist and the core concepts of IFS, some patients quickly make progress. While experiences vary, most will find that it is a relatively longer-term therapy, involving months and sometimes years of sessions.
