Grief and loss is another area of expertise for me, supporting those in their mourning through individual and group counseling.
The most important aspect of therapy is establishing a safe and nonjudgmental space, allowing an opportunity for the person to be their authentic self. Strongly driven by inquisitiveness, I hope to understand your worldview and explore how these notions may drive your behavior. By working collaboratively, I hope to work together to identify solutions to your current life dilemmas, pursuing avenues to achieve self-efficacy. I utilize a person-centered approach with a combination of using Motivational Interviewing (MI), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).

So far, this approach has led to clear results for people experiencing PTSD, anxiety, OCD, depression, grief, life transitions, relationship challenges, and recent traumas.
It’s easy to feel stuck or broken when we’ve never had the space to allow all of our emotions, the support to feel them safely, and the perspective to view ourselves with compassion. But when we finally get those things, we get to evolve, grow and change in ways that can be truly profound. My job isn’t to force you to do anything, but to help you learn and build what you’ve needed, so that you can evolve in the ways you want to.

I have experienced joy and grief in my life that help me to be empathetic and compassionate, including a child with significant medical trauma.
I believe that we all want to feel heard and understood, and experience feeling whole. These longings are inherent to the human experience. Therapy is an opportunity for me to partner with you to co-create a space that allows for this process to occur. My journey as a social worker started when I was in my 20’s and I have spent much of my life in the helper role. Personally/professionally, I have met all kinds of people, and experienced many circumstances, which have led me to develop strong therapeutic connections with individuals and families. I am non-judgmental and strength-focused, which allows for a safe space during therapy.

Grief Therapists
How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.
When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.
Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.
What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
