I feel like it's never too early or too late to make meaningful changes in life. Therapy is a scary word for many people, but when you look at it in its pure form, therapy is just a conversation between two people with the same goal of moving a person forward, and closer to their goals. I am a person who doesn't judge and just looks for the best path forward for my clients. I've been practicing for many years and love this work. I'll meet you where you are, and you and I can make a plan to help you become your best self.

I have always liked the metaphor that therapy is like riding in the car with someone. You are the one behind the wheel, deciding where and how fast we go and I am the one with the map helping you to get there. I believe in forming collaborative relationships with the people I work with. I strive to help you understand yourself better so that you can make meaningful change in your life. My goal is to help you form strategies and ways of thinking that can be translated from the therapy room to every day life - to work, school. relationships, and within yourself.

I have over 26 years of experience helping adults, teens and families in crisis.
Eating disorders are insidious and impact the entire family system. It can feel overwhelming, frustrating and confusing to know how to support a loved one with an eating disorder. Maybe you find the current treatment isn't working. My sessions help give caregivers (parents, partners or other supports) stability again. A person with an ED has a much better prognosis of sustained recovery when their family is educated, supported and involved. Family members learn they are part of the solution, not the problem. Treatment is not permanent, but family is. I can help you, help your loved one.

You might be feeling stuck, caught in the same patterns even though you “know better.” Maybe you’re dealing with depression, anxiety, relationship/marriage struggles, or a big life transition that has left you feeling overwhelmed. You may have even tried therapy or self-help before, but it never quite led to the lasting change you were hoping for. Together, we’ll look at what’s holding you back, uncover your strengths, and build the strategies you need to create the life you want - because real change starts with real talk.

I have over 10 years of experience supporting adults, teens, and families through life's challenges and crises.
My ideal client is someone who feels weighed down by anxiety, grief, or relationship struggles and is searching for relief, clarity, and a sense of stability again. They may feel stuck in patterns they can't break or overwhelmed by emotions they don’t know how to navigate. What they want most is peace, direction, and support they can trust. They're ready for a space where they can breathe, feel understood, and begin healing without judgment. You don't have to face any of this alone.

People see a therapist for many reasons. Some feel overwhelmed, sad, disconnected, angry, or confused; some seek guidance as they cope with traumatic events or navigate stressful transitions. Therapy offers opportunities to heal from trauma and loss, to deepen our self-understanding, and to grow in our capacity for authenticity and connection. It takes courage to reach out for support, and I would be honored to be a part of your journey.

Adolescence and adulthood can be exciting and overwhelming.
My experience working as an assistant dean of admission at Princeton University, coupled with my counseling experience at an independent K-12 school and at Princeton University’s Counseling and Psychological Center, has informed my deep understanding of the pressures students, adults, and families face in academic, social, career, and developmental spaces.

FAQ - Teenage and Adolescent Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
