Therapy is terrible, and nobody wants to be here. Most people come to therapy because things have gotten so bad they can't be ignored—or because someone has offered them the option of outdoor living if they do not get their shit together. Maybe you know exactly why you respond the way you do. Maybe you don't know or particularly care. That's cool, not everybody sits in my chair to ponder the meaning of life. People come to see me when things have gone bad and there's very little left to hold on to or let go of.
I won't make any promises and I don't claim to have a quick fix. Spoiler alert: you're going to do the hard work. I am an EMDR therapist, which says more about how we look at the problem than how we must proceed. EMDR gives us a framework for understanding why the past keeps coming up like a 2 AM taco you knew you should have passed on.
