Hi! My name is Nikki Barlia. We all need help to navigate the hurdles life throws our way, and we need someone trustworthy to walk alongside us on the journey. I enjoy helping clients improve their lives by overcoming anxiety, building healthy relationships, finding purpose, lowering stress levels, and increasing self-esteem. I believe that the relationship between therapist and client is the most important tool within the therapy process, so I try to create an environment that is warm and safe without judgment. My role as a therapist is versatile, I am an educator, a guide, a listener, a goofball or a mirror.
My specializations include anxiety, depression, grief and loss, family dynamics, life transitions, trauma, parenting, caring for elder parents, chronic illness, and divorce. I enjoy working with individuals, couples, families, and groups. I am also a qualified supervisor for master level counselors working towards their license.
What is different about me is that I am very informal and down to earth. I don't like check lists or boxes to fit people in to. I meet people where they are so the client is in charge of each session.
