My name is Dr. Nika George and I am a therapist with my PhD in clinical psychology. Clients typically visit my practice to receive specialized care for high achieving adults who experience perfectionism, and burnout. I also excel in treating people with PTSD, complex PTSD, and trauma in childhood such as emotional abuse and neglect. In addition, I frequently work with clients who are experiencing depression, anxiety, life transitions (divorce, moving, relationship issues, setting boundaries, assertiveness training), career stress, or postpartum mood changes.
My PhD makes me a bit different than other therapists. I have 4 years of training in brain behavior and cognitive science plus 5 years of training in graduate school as a scientist and therapist. I completed a 1 year internship in general mental health and a 1 year specialty residency in PTSD and mood issues. I provide flexible evidence based therapies.
Finding a therapist is tricky. I get overwhelmed looking at the large number of profiles, and I'm a provider myself! It's difficult to know who is effective and safe. If it helps, research shows that clients get better when 2 things happen - 1) They like and trust their therapist and 2) the therapist gives real world coping skills. I strive to do both.
