About
Dr. Lamar is a psychologist and a licensed professional counselor who has been providing therapy to individuals, families and groups for over 12 years. She earned a Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from Argosy University's Illinois School of Professional Psychology in 2016. She also has a Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology earned in 2003, and a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from St. Xavier University in Chicago obtained in 2000.
Dr. Lamar has experience working with adolescent and adult populations in individual, group and couples therapy. She specializes in treating depression, anxiety, adjustment difficulties, relationship issues, and trauma. Dr. Lamar uses a psychodynamic approach to therapy which emphasizes the client's relationship patterns and interpersonal conflicts.
She also incorporates other clinical and theoretical approaches to help her clients reach their personal goals. Some of which include cognitive behavior therapy and mindfulness practices. With client assistance, treatment goals are established to facilitate change, help clients feel better and improve relationships.
