I value a holistic approach and adapt my interventions to your needs. I have worked with individuals who feel stuck in life and want to find out how to generate momentum to move forward. I will help you identify what really matters to you and guide you to live a more vital, fulfilling life. I have extensive experience working with individuals suffering from mood disorders, trauma-related disorders and substance abuse.
My knowledge and experience are rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and I specialize in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). ACT is an empirically validated psychological intervention that uses acceptance and mindfulness strategies together with values-based commitment and behavior change strategies to increase psychological flexibility.
The Mind Therapy Clinic provides comprehensive services including Individual Psychotherapy, Family Therapy, Case Management, Psychiatric Medication Management, Neuropsychological Evaluation and Group Psychotherapy. We also provide higher level of care to aid individuals needing more structure and intensified treatment. We offer low-fee services, provided by our experienced doctoral-level interns.

Nicole Poell's Groups

Mindfulness-Based Group Therapy

Stress, being emotionally overwhelmed and pain are uninvited guests in our daily lives, and may have you feeling irritable, tense, depressed and anxious, which impacts your entire life. The KEY to regaining balance is responding to these stressors with mindful, non-judgmental awareness. This group will guide you to well-being, utilizing psychoeducation, mindfulness meditation and yoga/stretching. Mindfulness meditation has proven to help individuals reduce stress, pain, anxiety, depression, insomnia, cravings and increase overall quality of life. Influenced by Jon Kabat Zinn, Steven Purges and Bessel van der Kolk. Thursday is yoga-focused 1:30-2:50pm.

ACT is a playful, collaborative and experiential approach to therapy. ACT stands for "Accept, Choose and Take Action" and uses exercises, metaphors, writing and goal setting to help you: - Gain skills that help you handle painful thoughts, feelings and urges. - Observe thoughts without believing them or following their directions. - Identify patterns of trying to control or avoid uncontrollable internal experiences. - Experience a stable sense of self as an observer of experiences. - Bring attention to the present moment. - Participate in values-consistent activities. - Clarify what truly matters. ACT is an evidence-based therapy that helps you engage more fully in life.
