My ideal client would be someone who is trying to make connections from their past to the present, not to relive their past, but to understand why they may be struggling in the present. Learning to let go of old habits, old ways of thinking that were dysfunctional, is key to living mindfully in the present. Changing the response to the narrative is important to be able to move forward from your past experiences.
I use an eclectic approach to treat each client to truly make their experience individualized. I draw upon different theoretical orientations and can adapt quickly to what the client responds best to. I have had extensive training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy and I like to create a space for clients to challenge themselves.
I believe that we all, as humans, are a work in progress. We are all doing the absolute best we can. We can change our thoughts and feelings and ultimately, that will lead to lasting behavioral changes to have a more satisfying life. Therapy is a pace, not a race. Sessions are what you make of them.
