Careful listening and energetic, purposeful interaction are central in my method of treatment. Reducing anxiety, depression and difficulties in relationships and careers are crucial and worthwhile goals in my work as a psychotherapist. In the course of over 40 years of experience it has become my philosophy of psychotherapy that it is in the nature of relationships and careers to come to a crisis over time. Although the crisis invaribly leads to conflicts and is therefore anxiety producing, it is also an opportunity to work through issues to achieve insight and personal transformation.
I received a Master's degree in Clinical Social Work in 1971 and have been in practice ever since. I studied psychoanalysis and psychotherapy at the Postgraduate Center in New York and received my certification in 1982. I have been practicing in this West End Avenue office since 1985.
Based on my experience and love of my work I believe I am the type of therapist most people find it comfortable to confide in. In addition, my personal interests in writing and art have given me much insight into dealing with issues having to do with creativity.
