I am a Generalist therapist who has experience in helping teenagers, adults, and couples facing anxiety, depression, poor self-esteem, life stress, anger, grief and loss, substance abuse, parenting difficulties, and marital/relationship problems. I am also a trauma specialist with formal EMDR training. I have worked in wide a variety of clinical settings, helping people navigate a range of issues from everyday stress to the most overwhelming life challenges.
At our first meeting, I will briefly explain how confidentiality, protected health information, and Mandated Reporting requirements work, and I will ask for your questions or concerns about those topics. Then, I will ask you many questions about you, your life history, your symptoms, and what you would like to potentially work on in therapy.
In my graduate training program to become a therapist, it was emphasized that clients typically see the biggest improvements in therapy when the "Therapeutic Alliance" is strong. This means that clients typically do the best when that client feels like their therapist is kind, patient, trusted, and accepting of them at all times.
