I am now also welcoming those working in the fire service as clients.
The perinatal season and first responder field can be gratifying yet also introduce enormous changes in family dynamics and relationships. Whether a new parent or first responder, experiencing tragedy personally and or secondarily, expectations for a new mother or first responder can be high and too often dismissive of the unique stressors involved with making a new human or in the field. When unpredicted changes happen, people can feel alone, isolated, and afraid to give voice to their vulnerabilities. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with extensive experience in working with the perinatal and first responder population.

Accepting new clients for evening/weekend appts! I am an interactive therapist with a passion for working with relational/attachment trauma and postpartum/reproductive mental health. If you've experienced events that have overturned dreams, disrupted relationships, and brought waves of grief, loss, and confusion...whether years in the making or brand new... relational or reproductive trauma can have a huge impact on daily life function and relationships. I am a little irreverent, a lot empathetic, and ready to support clients who want to find, or get back to, their healthiest self.

I work with veterans, first responders, and driven professionals who've spent their lives serving others and are finally ready to figure out what comes next.
Clients have described working with me as "the first time therapy actually made sense" and "like talking to someone who gets it - no fluff, just real work." This isn't for everyone. But if you're tired of therapists who just sit back and ask "how does that make you feel?" - reach out. Let's see if we're a fit.

I am EMDR trained and may integrate CBT, mindfulness, and IFS-informed techniques, with training to support high-stress roles such as first responders, military personnel, & family members.
Sometimes, when life gets busy, or loud, we believe pushing through the noise will eventually get us through unscathed. What we don’t always realize is that this can cause the volume to increase, and pain to surface in ways we didn’t intend, whether that is toward loved ones, the world, or ourselves. Having a consistent space for yourself in a constantly changing world allows room to rest, breathe, and reset. It creates an opportunity to lean more deeply into self-compassion, unpack what you’ve been carrying, and make more space to notice and enjoy what’s around you as you move forward.

I have experience working in emergency and crisis services, couples therapy, and individual treatment.
Therapy can be overwhelming, scary, and feel like a failure. Mental health care is just as important as a physical wellness exam. I am committed to staying curious about your unique personal story, being a trusted partner, and walking alongside with compassion and expertise using a client centered approach. My mission is to reduce the stigma around obtaining mental health, substance use care, and support for trauma, making a safe space for you to share your experiences and find tools to learn and utilize in your daily life.

There is a great deal of power in knowing oneself. My clients come from a variety of backgrounds, however, they each bring with them a desire to overcome challenges that have prevented them from moving forward in life. What I offer are evidence based solutions that provide my clients with greater insight into their own minds and provide strategies to overcome the challenges that they face. Whether the challenge is an issue such as anxiety or OCD, or it is related to trauma or relational difficulties, I can help bring understanding and clarity to ultimately put more power for change in the hands of my clients.

If you are navigating grief in any of its forms, whether from a traumatic or stigmatized loss, a loss connected to substance use, or a non-death loss like chronic illness, identity shifts, or separation, I can help. You might feel overwhelmed, stuck, or misunderstood by those who expect you to simply “move on.” In our work together, you'll have a space where your story is honored, your connection to what or who you've lost is respected, and healing does not mean forgetting. My goal is to offer compassion, validation, and gentle guidance as you make sense of how grief is shaping your daily life and sense of self.

First Responders Therapists
Why is mental health important for first responders?
As part of their work, first responders are often exposed to high levels of stress, trauma, and physical injury that can put them at a greater risk for serious mental health conditions than the general population. Conditions like PTSD, anxiety, substance use, and depression are more common in first responders, which can greatly reduce quality of life and lead to burnout, sleep disruption, and even suicidal thoughts. Therapy can offer an opportunity for first responders to process difficult on-the-job experiences and develop coping skills to better manage any mental health symptoms they may experience.

How can first responders get access to mental health support?
Many first responders can access therapy for free or at a very low cost through their employer, such as through an Employee Assistance Program (EAP). Workplaces may also offer or have referral recommendations for support groups, where first responders can meet with others in their profession to receive support. Individuals who would like to access mental health services outside of their employer may use their insurance benefits to see a therapist, which they can find by searching for therapists online or asking for recommendations from their primary care physician.

What type of therapy is best for first responders?
The best therapy approach depends on the mental health concerns of the client. Since many first responders struggle with trauma or PTSD, they may benefit from trauma-specific therapeutic approaches, such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy, Exposure Therapy, or Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT). Individuals with symptoms of anxiety, depression, or stress may alternatively benefit from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) or mindfulness-based therapeutic approaches, which can help clients develop coping skills to manage distressing thoughts.

Can therapy for first responders help with trauma and PTSD?
Therapy can be highly effective in both treating and preventing trauma and PTSD in first responders. Typically, therapy for trauma and PTSD focuses on developing stress management skills and managing intrusive or unwanted thoughts. Therapists working with first responders often help clients strengthen their relationships and reduce harmful coping mechanisms, such as excessive substance use. Additionally, therapists assist first responders in establishing daily habits that support overall mental and physical health and enhance resilience to future stress, such as regular physical exercise, mindfulness practices, and improved eating habits.
