My work often supports teens, adults, couples, and families navigating anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, identity development, relationship concerns, and sexual concerns.
My approach is person-first, strengths-based, and systemic. This means I consider how relationships, family dynamics, communication patterns, culture, identity, and past experiences shape the problems clients bring to therapy. I also integrate narrative therapy, EFT, mindfulness, LGBTQ+ affirming care, and appropriate humor.

Life has challenges and sometimes to meet those challenges we need additional tools, insight and support. Therapy provides a relationship and space you need in order to take a look at the challenges life has thrown at you and how you have navigated them so far. Do the skills you have still work for you? Is there something holding you back from living the meaningful, purposeful life you had imagined? Therapy can be a place to take stock of where you are, where you want to go, and help you develop a plan to get there.

I have worked extensively with a wide variety of cultures and populations; including college students/emerging adults, children and adolescents, people struggling with gender and sexual identity issues as well as older populations experiencing significant life transitions.
Everyone has a story to tell, a thread that consciously or unconsciously guides his or her behavior, wants, and motivations. In my practice, I try to help people who have become unhappy with their current pattern of living and have begun to think about building a clearer understanding of who they are and who they feel they would like to "be." I work to build a mutual appreciation for each other's story. Having received extensive training in Cognitive Behavioral and Analytical Theory, I am able to provide an eclectic approach to working with a wide variety of clients' needs.

You’ve been holding it all together while feeling like life keeps handing you more to carry. Maybe you’re grieving, anxious, or just exhausted from trying to do it all. You might feel disconnected from yourself or unsure how to keep going in a world that feels unpredictable. Deep down, you just want to feel calm, steady, and like you again.

FAQ - Teenage and Adolescent Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
