Welcome. Are you looking for a warm, dynamic, interactive approach to therapy? I may be a good fit! For over 25 years I have had the privilege of working with children, teens, and adults of all ages. My hope is that each person leaves every session with something valuable, such as feeling truly seen, heard and validated; learning something new about how our brains work; a new strategy for getting through the day; or fresh insight into themselves or a relationship. I keep things light and fun with children and teens, while still inspiring them to grow in areas like executive functioning, emotional regulation and communication.

What is Pastoral Psychotherapy? Pastoral Psychotherapy draws upon psychology and spirituality to assist persons in resolving problems and facilitating the growth process. There are periods in life when stresses require that one enter into a close relationship with a person to find clarity and direction. I help persons evaluate and enrich their lives through this kind of relationship. My training allows me to provide both traditional psychotherapy and a more holistic approach to healing, so persons entering psychotherapy with me have a choice of which model that one prefers.

My Philosophy in treatment is that each of us, myself included, endures pain and suffering caused from difficult life circumstances and from broken relationships. Each individual also possess within him or herself the gifts and strengths which build resiliency that helps overcome these obstacles in life's journeys. The counseling process is helping the client draw out these gifts and strengths and learn to develop them. I am committed to offering the same type of compassion to my clients that I would want extended to me or my family.

You've been showing up for everyone else, but inside, it feels like you are falling apart. You're carrying stress, pressure, and frustration without a clear way forward. It's starting to impact your work, your relationships, and how you see yourself. Most men don't want endless talking. What they do want is clarity, direction and real change. That's where we start.

I work with adults, families, couples, those in separation and divorce, parents/co-parents, and non traditional and adoptive families.
We always have a choice! Much is beyond our control, but we choose how we respond to life and where we place our energy and attention. I am lucky to have worked for over 20 years with women and men who choose to live intentionally. In this process, many explore their attachment and relational styles and move towards authenticity in all relationships. Some of those I work with have generational dysfunction or trauma, and been affected by another’s addiction or abuse. Some have been affected by a close person with a personality disorder, including those with narcissistic traits. I work with many with co-dependent patterns.

Do things look pretty good on the outside, but inside you're carrying a lot of stress, self-doubt, or emotional heaviness? Maybe the story of your life doesn’t match the one you imagined—and that disconnect is showing up as anxiety, depression, intrusive thoughts, or burnout. Therapy can be a powerful place to pause, reset, and begin again. I'm Phase 2 trained and certified in Brainspotting, a powerful brain-body-based modality that helps process and release trauma and emotional blocks. I also integrate DBT, ACT, and CBT, tailoring our work to your unique needs.

Divorce Therapists
How does therapy for people affected by a divorce work?
Individuals may feel a number of emotions following a divorce, such as shock, guilt, grief, anger, and fear. Therapists offer a non-judgmental space for individuals to talk about what they’ve experienced and process their emotions. Therapists will help clients develop coping strategies. They can also help a client rebuild their sense of self and self-worth and talk about what a happier future might look like.

What’s the most common type of therapy following a divorce?
There are several types of therapy that may be useful for divorce, including cognitive behavioral, acceptance and commitment, solution-focused brief, and mindfulness-based therapies. Many therapy types are talk-therapy based, which is typically the most popular option for individuals dealing with divorce. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a widely-used talk therapy, however, there’s no specific therapy type that’s designed to help people with divorce, and different types will work depending on the person.

When should an individual seek help due to a divorce?
When the feelings of a divorced individual, or an individual going through the process of divorce, begin to disrupt healthy daily functioning, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not performing at work due to problems with anxiety or motivation, if they’re no longer seeing friends due to feelings of shame, or if they’re not properly taking care of themselves as a result of depression, speaking to a professional could help.

How do you encourage someone to go to therapy due to a divorce?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the individual while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Sharing how the individual appears to be suffering, and what effects it has on them or on their children, should be done with compassion and empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
