**Availability may be limited** Most people experience challenges in life and painful moments that can seem difficult to understand and get through. However, I believe with the right supports, we are capable and worthy of healing and resiliency. I knew from an early age I was passionate about helping people find ways to recover from adversity and develop a stronger sense of self, meaning, and happiness. I firmly believe feeling comfortable and understood is essential to the outcome of therapy. I take a compassionate yet direct stance, and strive to act as a coach and active partner in helping individuals reach their goals.

Are you stressed out, overwhelmed, struggling in relationships, and unsure what to do next? You wonder, "where do I go from here.” You want something better for yourself but don't know what to do or how to get there. I work with adults who are struggling with substances or in recovery and their families to manage stress, control their emotions, and find purpose & peace. Trying to navigate the waters of recovery alone can be a recipe for disaster; at worst it means relapse, at best it means a life of being restless, irritable, and discontent.

Working with adolescents and young adults holds a special place in my heart. This stage of life is hard! Teens have one foot rooted in their childhood and the other reaching for independence. Young adults face various obstacles as they are navigating a world through new eyes. Each stage presents its own challenges. You deserve to thrive in your life and not just survive. In a world that is consumed with comparison, it’s easy to lose esteem and doubt how special you are. If you are feeling stressed, down, overwhelmed with emotions, or anxious you are not alone, and it doesn’t have to be that way forever.

Hello and welcome to my practice! My areas of expertise are in the treatment of adults who are experiencing anxiety, depression, or difficulty with relationships. Perhaps it's taken you time to gather the strength and courage to examine the problems in your life. I have successfully worked with many who have experienced life stressors such as serious illness, trauma, and divorce. My greatest hope is that people start investing in themselves and realize that they are important and worth the time in fostering strength, confidence and independence. Considering therapy can be a difficult choice and entering therapy can feel scary and vulnerable. I have faith in people in that if they take the first step towards emotional healing they will be able to heal. My approach is more holistic, client centered and cognitive behavioral. I feel that in a warm, trusting, collaborative and inviting environment people can feel more at ease in talking about their life and problems they want to overcome.

Are you finding that you are turning outside yourself to help you feel better? Have you lost someone or something important to you? Has something traumatic happened? Sometimes people just need a professional to talk with because they do not want to burden family or friends with their troubles.

Finding the right fit with a therapist can be challenging. I am a psychotherapist who excels at connecting with people and making them feel at ease. I'm known by my clients to be warm, engaged, humorous, direct and compassionate. I believe it is a privilege to sit with people who allow me to bear witness to their lives, stressors, and pain. I have great appreciation for the "and" that life often presents, and encourage clients to recognize and tolerate that we often experience conflicting emotions simultaneously. I approach therapy as an interactive process and enjoy working with people to develop a plan that works best for them.

My ideal client is one who is invested in the therapy process as I am, and motivated to work in and out of session. My ideal client is ready to try new things and willing to look deeply inside. When these elements are in place, therapy tends to progress nicely.

Self Esteem Therapists
When should a person seek therapy for low self-esteem?
When self-esteem problems begin to disrupt the healthy daily functioning of an individual, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not engaging with friends for fear of being judged, not completing work assignments because they don’t think they’re capable, or not finding romantic love because they don’t feel they’re worthy of it, a therapist may be able to help.
What are the signs of low self-esteem?
Low self-esteem is a common issue that can affect a person's mental and emotional well-being. Some common signs of low self-esteem include negative self-talk, perfectionism, social anxiety, difficulty making decisions, an inability to set boundaries, people-pleasing, and others. A lack of belief in oneself or one’s abilities and a feeling of not being worthy or deserving underlie most of these characteristics.
What causes low self-esteem?
Feelings of low self-worth can begin in childhood or adulthood. Being raised by a highly critical parent or growing up feeling constant disapproval can stay with a person well into adulthood. Specific issues in adulthood may also be a cause of low self-esteem. An unhappy relationship, a dysfunctional work or school experience can impact a person’s feelings of self-worth.
How can therapy improve self-esteem?
Therapists can help identify negative thought patterns that keep the client stuck in a loop of destructive self-talk and develop coping skills to change the voice in their head. A therapist can help with goal-setting, so that clients are better able to stay on task and build confidence from successfully completing work they’re proud of. Coaching a client on how to better communicate can improve relationships. These skills can result in someone with low self-esteem feeling empowered and living with less fear.
