As a therapist, my goal is to help my clients reach a level of self-empowerment and self-awareness, fostering a therapeutic environment that provides a sense of security while exploring the unique experiences and elements of a client's life. I strive to create a non-judgemental space in which to process difficulties and engage in self-discovery, self-acceptance, personal growth and work towards lasting change. I approach therapy with an open and collaborative mindset, recognizing that as life unfolds we face many challenges, and each person must find their own path.

I enjoy empowering my clients to solve real-life problems that hinder them from living the life they want. Clients have said that they enjoy my supportive, yet more direct and conversational approach to therapy. I am a caring clinician who will bring intensity and humor to the therapeutic relationship. My practice is a good fit for individuals who are looking to make real change in their lives. Change can be scary, in fact, as humans, we will often choose misery over change, but through strengthening your insight and building trust in your intuition, you can find the courage and confidence to create the life you want.

Do you feel stuck and enough is enough? Are you caught in a cycle, living the same internal story over and over? I work with couples, individuals, and families who feel ready to stop living on autopilot and start living with intention. The people I meet don’t come to therapy because they’re “broken." They come because they’ve hit a point where old ways of coping no longer match the life they want to live. Patterns that once protected them now keep them small, tired, overwhelmed, or disconnected. I help people understand why these patterns formed and how to outgrow them with clarity and compassion.

Something has shifted in your relationship, and you've known it for a while. You keep circling back to the same painful place, the distance between each other feels like miles, and despite sharing a life together, you feel alone. You're here because there is a part of you that still believes it can be different and that sliver of hope is what you cling onto. I work with couples facing conflict, disconnection, parenting challenges, and questions about who they are individually and together. Together, we slow things down, uncover the patterns beneath the arguments, and create new ways of connecting.

Are you skeptical that therapy can help you make the changes you want within yourself, in your relationships, or in your professional life? Is it clear that something needs to change, but you don’t know exactly what, or where to start? Or even more frustrating, are the things that need to change glaringly obvious, yet you find yourself following the same patterns despite being able to see them right in front of you? It’s when people are at these points that they often feel a real sense of despair, hopelessness, or anger, which leads to clinical symptoms, a breakdown in important relationships, and impaired functioning at work/school

Do you feel worry, restless, or overwhelm? Do you have a critical voice that's really harsh, wanting you to be perfect or to please others? Have you noticed yourself feeling hopeless, not good enough, or stuck? Do you have behaviors that you can't seem to overcome or change no matter how hard you try? My clients learn how to separate from the parts of them that takeover, understand their thoughts and impulses, allow their true self to take the lead, and access curiosity, calm, clarity, and courage. That being said, I’m a very casual therapist who provides a human experience. Let's be human together!

Healthy and fulfilling human connection is more important and meaningful now than ever before. Feeling safe and comfortable out in the world, and/or readjusting after several years that made us re-think our most intimate relationships and how we connect with our partners, can be unsettling and exhausting. Peer relationships, family connections, or life partners, I work collaboratively with clients across the life span. I am an advocate for preventative care in all aspects of our lives, including our mental health and relational health.

Divorce Therapists
How does therapy for people affected by a divorce work?
Individuals may feel a number of emotions following a divorce, such as shock, guilt, grief, anger, and fear. Therapists offer a non-judgmental space for individuals to talk about what they’ve experienced and process their emotions. Therapists will help clients develop coping strategies. They can also help a client rebuild their sense of self and self-worth and talk about what a happier future might look like.

What’s the most common type of therapy following a divorce?
There are several types of therapy that may be useful for divorce, including cognitive behavioral, acceptance and commitment, solution-focused brief, and mindfulness-based therapies. Many therapy types are talk-therapy based, which is typically the most popular option for individuals dealing with divorce. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a widely-used talk therapy, however, there’s no specific therapy type that’s designed to help people with divorce, and different types will work depending on the person.

When should an individual seek help due to a divorce?
When the feelings of a divorced individual, or an individual going through the process of divorce, begin to disrupt healthy daily functioning, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If a person finds that they are not performing at work due to problems with anxiety or motivation, if they’re no longer seeing friends due to feelings of shame, or if they’re not properly taking care of themselves as a result of depression, speaking to a professional could help.

How do you encourage someone to go to therapy due to a divorce?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the individual while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Sharing how the individual appears to be suffering, and what effects it has on them or on their children, should be done with compassion and empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
