I specialize in treating addiction, anxiety, depression , and co-occurring mental health and substance use disorders.
I enjoy working with adult individuals and building a safe therapeutic environment for them to explore their strengths, barriers, and potential. I assist individuals to enhance their self-esteem, self-worth, and also validate their experiences. A common practice that I utilize is guiding individuals to identify, restructure, and replace unhealthy thought patterns and behaviors with healthy empowering ones. In addition, I work with individuals on building and positively engaging with a support network, which is crucial in the recovery process.

I have worked with clients to address anxiety, depression , trauma, and substance abuse.
For me, therapy is a safe place to truly explore the areas of our lives that impact our daily interactions with ourselves and those around us. Sometimes, when we go somewhere new we need a guide, someone who can help us climb the steep mountains safely and maneuver the hard terrain that can come. My goal as your therapist is to be that guide and help you navigate through the discoveries made throughout the process. Therapy can be emotionally challenging and can bring about vulnerability that is uncomfortable at times but what I hope to create for you is a place where you know your vulnerability will be protected and safe.

The majority of my counseling experience is in the areas of depression , anxiety, couples counseling and parent coaching.
The pandemic is leaving its mark on all of us, in many different ways. For some of us, it's revealed our helpful and unhelpful patterns of coping with stress, loneliness, depression , grief or anxiety. For others, extended time at home has shown us the health of our relationships with the people we live with, for better or worse. Some of us have lost loved ones, and are processing grief while facing our own mortality in a new way. Many of us may feel a fresh desire to find meaning, purpose, joy and contentment. Whatever has prompted you to explore counseling, I'm glad you're here.

I see people move through depression , anxiety, and sadness by discovering their own wisdom, and enlightened sense of self.
Do you see people changing and wish you could too? Sometimes all a person needs is a little encouragement to move forward. Other times self motivation or outside forces make change more complicated. I have helped people of all ages find creative ways to change either by altering the way their approach to a problem or by finding peace within themselves through acceptance. I meet with individuals, couples and families and see that often magical things happen once internal or external obstacles are set aside. Life is an strange and wonderful adventure!

My hours are weekdays 8am-2pm. My primary strengths are working with 1. couples 2. family members who have been affected by addiction and 3. teenagers struggling with anxiety and depression . I work with the idea that our learned beliefs about ourselves and the world determine how we react to stress; as well as mindfulness to find our truth. I base my family addictions work on Melody Beattie's Co-Dependent No More philosophy. I also very much enjoy working with couples, but I am not a referee. Your relationship is the client in the room that is looking to heal (your relationship's strengths, needs, and communication styles).

Many of us are trying to manage depressive feelings, anxious thoughts, and relationship issues. Many of us long for more connection with the important people in our lives. Sadly, like a frustrating circle, lack of connection with others frequently leads to increased depression and anxiety, which in turn increases your sense of isolation. Bringing awareness and understanding to the emotions underneath your communication with others, as well as learning how to verbalize these emotions so others better understand your experience, can be helpful in decreasing these distressing symptoms. (Please see note below about hours)

Emotional and relational peace, joy, and power can feel impossible and elusive sometimes. But, often it takes one small first step to shift your life towards greater health. I love working with people ready to invite themselves to take that small step and see where it leads. If you've been struggling with anxiety, depression , self-doubt, relationship problems, upsetting personal experiences, or life transitions/losses, I hope you'll take the small step.

Depression , anxiety, anger, ADHD may all have symptoms of executive dysfunction; they can be seen as both emotional and neurocognitive disorders first seen in childhood or adulthood.
Psychotherapy can create a unique and healing relationship. Psychotherapy supports personal growth and emotional strength; it helps people solve problems and it builds motivation to get life-work done. I meet each person at their unique place on life's journey to discover how they want to grow. My specialty is psychotherapy with young, middle-age and older adults. I work with problems and disorders such as loneliness, depression , bipolar, anxiety, insomnia, eating issues. I have skills working with people who have emotional problems and relationship conflict. A trusting relationship with a psychologist can help you meet goals.

I have 8 years of experience working with clients (ages 6-adult) on many topics including anxiety, depression , trauma, stress management, and self-identity.
Tues/Thurs evening openings. Sharing your thoughts and feelings can be difficult, but with a trusted therapist it can feel a little less scary. In fact, it can be the first step towards identifying and making the changes you've been hoping to see in your life. Finding the right fit with a therapist is a key element to building a positive and effective therapeutic relationship. My therapeutic style is warm, empathetic, and validating with some humor sprinkled in at appropriate times. I use a client-centered approach so although I may gently guide, reflect, and ask questions, you are in charge of our pace and what our sessions cover.

I have experience treating clients with depression , anxiety, mood and behavioral disorders, PTSD, ADHD, and trauma.
Life is filled with many ups and many downs. Unfortunately, it is the downs that we tend to focus on which can lead us to feel overwhelmed, stressed, and hopeless. I respect and validate the struggles my clients have endured and help them realize they have the ability to make change and live a better life. My goal is for my clients to gain knowledge, coping strategies, and to feel empowered to overcome challenges. I work with my clients to make treatment as simple, realistic, and light hearted as possible.

I'm excited that a part of you is curious about ways to get support for whatever life has thrown at you. This is a puzzling time for most! There may be a part of us that is anxious, depressed , critical, scared or many other sensations that can take a hold of us. For years and even decades we have formed our own ways of dealing with things with the tools we had available. There is help and support for all of us from the world outside of us and from the world within us. Mental health and addiction are quiet illnesses that we often don't want to share or acknowledge.

Depression Therapists
Depressive disorders are characterized by persistent feelings of sadness and worthlessness and a lack of desire to engage in formerly pleasurable activities. Depression is not a passing blue mood, which almost everyone experiences from time to time, but a complex mind/body illness that interferes with everyday functioning. It not only darkens one's outlook, it is commonly marked by sleep problems and changes in energy levels and appetite. It alters the structure and function of nerve cells so that it disrupts the way the brain processes information and interprets experience.

Despite feelings of hopelessness and worthlessness, depression is a treatable condition. It can be treated with psychotherapy. As with many illnesses, the earlier treatment begins, the more effective it can be and the greater the likelihood that recurrence can be prevented.

Psychotherapy addresses the thinking patterns that precipitate depression, and studies show that it prevents recurrence. Drug therapy is often helpful in relieving symptoms, such as severe anxiety, so that people can engage in meaningful psychotherapy.
