At Mosaic Mind Counseling, we believe that healing is a journey—one that is as complex, layered, and unique as the people we serve. Life’s experiences can often leave us feeling fragmented, but like pieces of a mosaic, those experiences can come together to form something whole, meaningful, and beautiful. Our practice is here to support you in making sense of your story, reclaiming your strength, and creating the life you want to live.

If you are someone who wants to clarify their personal goals, or have meaningful and respectful relationships, have the inner experience of confidence and freedom; and to live with more peace and joy? Maybe anxiety and fear have been the boss for too long. Do you long for more adventure, companionship, money and creativity? Many people are talented but feel blocked. I would be honored to support you on your transformational journey toward who you truly are.

It feels like more days are tough than not. You can't remember the last time you had a good night’s sleep. Feeling overwhelmed with everything because it feels too much and you don't know where to start. Thoughts are racing. You can’t find that feeling of safety. Feeling numb and having no connection to your body. Relationships are confusing and you aren't sure how trust and find support. Your brain is your worst enemy, repeating every awful insult you have ever heard. You can’t help but believe that they are true. Feeling shame about how you have coped and survived with this pain. Not sure if you can ever make changes.

In our moments of quiet reflection, which are often fleeting in today's fast-paced world, we may find ourselves listening to an inner monologue that is in limbo. Perhaps you feel there is no time to sort through all of your thoughts and feelings, and you're stuck in "go-mode", juggling the day to day but not living your life to the fullest. This stress may manifest as substance misuse, relationship conflict, avoidance, feeling "numb", neglecting one's self-care, work or school problems, parenting challenges, and more. These challenges, if the origins are not understood, can reinforce feelings of failure and self-doubt.

Please note email is my preferred method of contact for new clients. When my clients are functioning at their best they are creative, playful, passionate, and hard-working. They are adults aged 18+ who are interested in a holistic look at their wellbeing (including factors like sleep quality, relationships, movement etc.). When struggling they tend to find themselves overwhelmed with worry, self-doubt, and/or self-criticism. They are also curious about their body sensations and what that information may mean for their mental health.

Coaching is about pushing you beyond your comfort zone to achieve your goals. Coaching is about action and commitment. If you are looking to make changes in your life, coaching may be an option for you. Coaching is all about examining what you want to achieve, a change in your relationship patterns, a healthier life style, a new career; and putting the right plan and actions in place to do so. Maybe you don't know where to begin, tried and not succeeded, or just keep repeating the same patterns. Coaching can help move you forward.

They may be a child with behavioral or emotional challenges, a teenager experiencing anxiety, depression, or identity-related concerns, an adult facing life stressors, relationship difficulties, or mood disorders, or a family seeking greater harmony and communication. Many individuals identify feeling overwhelmed by emotions, difficulty coping with stress, or struggling with negative thought patterns and behaviors that are impacting their daily life and relationships.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or because they feel more comfortable with a therapist of their own gender due to shared life experiences or perspectives. Considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender may matter or improve their therapeutic experience. The most important consideration is that a client is able to build a trusting relationship with their therapist.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist. For women, this could be because they believe that they will be able to better connect with a woman, and that a female therapist will be able to relate to their specific challenges and personal issues. It may be particularly beneficial for women to see a female therapist, for example, for gender-specific issues, such as sexism in the workplace, relationship issues, and gender roles. The most important factor in therapy is the client-therapist connection, and a therapist's gender as well as many other factors may play an important role in this.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
