In our moments of quiet reflection, which are often fleeting in today's fast-paced world, we may find ourselves listening to an inner monologue that is in limbo. Perhaps you feel there is no time to sort through all of your thoughts and feelings, and you're stuck in "go-mode", juggling the day to day but not living your life to the fullest. This stress may manifest as substance misuse, relationship conflict, avoidance, feeling "numb", neglecting one's self-care, work or school problems, parenting challenges, and more. These challenges, if the origins are not understood, can reinforce feelings of failure and self-doubt.

Pretty sure I have lost my mind. Palms sweating, pulse racing, can’t breathe. Constantly feeling like I’m one step away from imploding. Its either all of that or nothing, just feeling numb and disconnected. Haven’t had one positive thought about myself or believe I’m even capable of anything. Not sure how I can ever take a step towards healing from all that life has dumped on me. Those around me don’t understand. Doing anything I can to survive, even if it hurts me. Constantly surviving one moment to the next.

I am offering Life Coaching for youth 1:1 or group sessions in your community! Most of us at some point feel we want things in our lives to be different, but don’t always know how to make the changes we need to or can’t do it on our own because we get stuck. I am optimistic we can work towards positive change together! I am offering an alternate approach to traditional mental health methods. My sessions with your child will be primarily outdoors and we will be using nature and physical activity to alleviate anxiety and depression symptoms. I have 15 years of experience as a School Counselor and over 20 years working with youth.

I am a licensed independent social worker (aka mental health therapist) in FL, WA, MA, NH and ME. Therapy is a partnership and part of my job is to hold up the mirror for you to look at yourself. While using the therapeutic space to vent and process is an important component, I see the most progress in people who recognize things they want to change while in session and then take action to make those changes while out in the world. It is MY goal to meet you where you're at as you navigate YOUR goals; you are the expert on yourself and it's important to me that, together, we really hone in on what it is that YOU want to focus on.

Being a teen or young adult is hard. Besides drowning in a culture of “never enough,” they are bombarded daily by a constant stream of messaging about who, how and what they are supposed to be. The pressure is often crippling, the messages are confusing, and it can be tough to know where to turn for help. For over a decade, I have worked with teens, young adults, and parents who are learning how to navigate this important period with self-awareness, skill, and confidence. I listen carefully and read between the lines, helping young people figure out what is really going on and helping them forge their own, unique path forward.

Are you or someone you know struggling with managing emotions-anxiety or depression, are there sexual concerns for yourself or in your relationship, or are you struggling with adjustments in your life, maybe starting a family or parenting children who struggle with behaviors? If so I would love to hear from you in order to see if I am a good fit to help. I love working with all types of family systems, currently with couples or adult individuals. I believe that part of moving forward towards change is supporting my clients in finding the solutions within themselves.

I work with people who are experiencing anxiety, depression, interpersonal problems, and major life transitions, drawing on 3 decades of psychodynamic, psychoanalytic, and couples work to support people in becoming the best possible version of themselves. I'm mindful of your formative history but stay in the present, using our different kind of conversation to explore feelings and behavior patterns that have impacted your current experience.

Welcome! I believe that building an authentic, compassionate, and transparent space is the cornerstone of heart-centered and productive care. I strive to help individuals work through their current stressors and improve their coping skills and confidence for wherever this unpredictable life takes them next! I have helped many individuals find ease in their lives and am particularly passionate about working with pregnant individuals and parents (which can feel new again at every child age!). Prioritizing our own stress, anxiety, or mood management and learning new skills, can often be the best way we help our children.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
