I have a particular focus on supporting children, adolescents, and families navigating school-related challenges, grief and loss, and behavioral concerns.
I believe that seeking support is one of the most courageous steps a person can take. My goal as a therapist is to create a space where you feel genuinely heard, respected, and understood—without judgment or pressure. Every person’s story is unique, and I approach our work together with curiosity, compassion, and deep respect for your lived experience. I work with individuals who may be feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or disconnected—whether from themselves, their relationships, or their sense of purpose.

Life has challenges and sometimes to meet those challenges we need additional tools, insight and support. Therapy provides a relationship and space you need in order to take a look at the challenges life has thrown at you and how you have navigated them so far. Do the skills you have still work for you? Is there something holding you back from living the meaningful, purposeful life you had imagined? Therapy can be a place to take stock of where you are, where you want to go, and help you develop a plan to get there.

My expertise includes: PTSD & stress management, substance abuse, mood disorders, grief, anxiety, sexual trauma (including human trafficking), physical & emotional abuse, teen dating violence, and LGBTQ & women's issues.
Too often, we equate caring for our mental and emotional health with weakness and failure - especially when we're taught that our "strength" is based on our ability to handle the stresses of everyday life without "cracking". I've dedicated my career to overcoming this myth by helping young adults and adults develop wellness plans that promote emotional and mental balance, internal peace, and positive coping and communication skills.

I am committed to helping people resolve whatever issues they may bring to counseling. Together, we may journey into the past or stay firmly rooted in the present, confronting & transforming old behaviors, memories, or areas of less than optimal functioning. Since no one technique serves all, I offer a multidisciplinary approach. I often employ the expressive arts and an environmental connection with the spiritual, when appropriate and suitable for each of my individual clients. This results in a greater vitality, creativity, satisfaction, self-knowledge, clarity of expression, and holistic healing for most people.

Ideally, for my telehealth practice, I would like to limit it to clients struggling with unusual experiences such as near- death, paranormal/synchronistic encounters, and other things that might be disturbing on some level but are often not discussed in therapy because of fear of being ridiculed, pathologized, and the experience being dismissed.
Over the past 30 years I have had the opportunity to work with thousands of clients from diverse backgrounds, educational and economic status, and presenting issues. I believe at its root, what my specialty is, is to be non-judgmental, a good listener, able to put myself in my client's shoes for a bit, and able to explore ways not just to survive but thrive.

Grief Therapists
How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
