At QuIPP, we are queer,
non-binary
, depth-oriented, feminist, and trauma-informed. Our therapeutic approaches include CBT, DBT, and psychodynamic and we seek to explore the deep impacts of others (familial, peer, and social) on the minds and spirits of our clients. Our clinical areas of expertise include: gender & sexuality, trauma, transition related support, and poly/kinky & sex positivity. Given that trauma and emotional pain often originate within relationships, we take a relational (and deeply compassionate) approach to therapy.

Collaboratively, we can identify goals and use visual art as well as talk therapy to promote insight, development of coping strategies, and behavior and stress management. As a

(Currently only taking on new supervision clients) I am guided by a profound respect for, and trust in, our innate ability to heal. I have a commitment to a collaborative approach with all clients I work with and therapists that I supervise. In this collaboration I act as an attuned witness and a supportive mirror with acknowledgement that you are the expert of your experience. Are you a queer, trans,
non-binary
, or gender expansive person exploring gender/sexuality while coping with homophobia and/or transphobia? If you are TGNC, do you find yourself experiencing gender dysphoria and also want to explore gender euphoria? In a cishet-centered world, it can be difficult to prioritize queer joy and safety. Regardless of where or how you fit into the LGBTQIA+ community, my hope is that we can start that prioritization process together while also holding space for the hard stuff. As a therapist, I believe that you are the expert in your own life. My aim is to listen and provide warmth, patience, and tools.

I believe everyone has a story that needs to be told. Therapy can be a space where we challenge how we relate to the stories we tell our selves, others, and those others may uphold. Therapy can also be a space where we reckon with the universal systems of oppression that have impacted our stories, our ability to tell them, and our ability to be heard. I provide support to individuals, partners, and families who are motivated towards greater understandings of their stories in order to the heal connections in their relationships with themselves and others.

I work with clients who are interested in more fulfilling relationships with themselves and the people in their lives, especially as this intersects with their journeys as BIPOC, queer folks, trans (binary,
non-binary
and gender expansive) folks, allies/accomplices, neurodiverse folks, and people with feminist/social justice values. I help people dream and envision the lives they want, in their bodies, in their sexuality, in their relationships/friendships/families, in their work, in their sphere of influence, and move towards them. I help people heal from patterns that we formed out of survival or socialization & want to grow from.

I have experience working with TGNC,
non-binary
, and LGB individuals, those suffering from an eating disorder, and athletes.
As people, we have a deep need to be understood, and one of the most profound ways to do this is in a safe, trusting, and affirming therapeutic relationship. As a therapist, I work with individuals using a psychodynamic approach. My role as such is to help you identify your needs and put your inner experience at the center, engaging both mind and body, so that barriers to your well-being can be lifted. In my practice, I look to be responsive, collaborative, and affirmative when working with folks' intersecting identities and how those identities show up within the therapeutic relationship.

Psychotherapy is an intimate collaboration in self-discovery, problem-solving & relief of suffering. My aim is to meet you where you’re at, beginning from where you are — depressed, anxious, isolated or lost. Together, we’ll winnow these obstacles to uncover fears/outgrown narratives separating you from your goals. I’ll offer feedback and invite yours fully; looking at our relationship deepens a mutual understanding and sheds light on your other relationships. When the fit is right, a safe and meaningful therapeutic connection supports symptom relief, fosters growth, self-esteem, and helps us (re)claim our identities.

How can I find a therapist in New York?
Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
