Most people solve most problems on their own or with help from friends, but that doesn’t always work. Troubles mount up. Upheavals catch you unawares. “Go to” solutions can leave you empty-handed. Even planned changes can be disorienting - new jobs, retirement, new relationships, going off to school, children leaving home. Sometimes people just need help coping, changing bad habits, or thinking through options. Other times people feel hemmed in by circumstances, or find they don’t recognize themselves in the life they lead and want to deepen their sense that the life they are living reflects their own values and choices.

Right out of the starting gate, if you haven't noticed, the world we are living in is more than challenging!. It can be helpful to allow yourself to know what you are feeling and to have someone you trust to express those feellings without fear of judgement. I mean someone who is comfortable enough in their own skin to contain those feelings for you til you can make sense of them. In addition, It's important to know there is no "right" way to express yourself.. Initially, one may be using action as a way to express oneself. Then over time one develops the capacity for introspection, an important tool for navigating our world.

Today’s pandemic has created emotional and physical stressors that challenge our ability to manage anxious feelings and angry impulses. Thankfully, even under these conditions, anger and anxiety management remain skills you can learn and practice. Though the feelings of anger and anxiety are universal, the expression of these feelings can vary, and thus can result in either positive changes or disastrous consequences for your personal relationships, physical well-being, or professional career.

I utilize a person-centered, non-pathological approach to therapy. Internal Family Systems is my preferred modality as it views the struggles of humankind, as just that, struggles and not pathology. It also honors the healer inside of each of us, believing that each person not only has the capacity to heal but has a Self that is designed to do just that. In my approach, IFS is used as a road map and we journey together to the destinations you identify. You will do some hard, challenging, and courageous work but you will not do it alone; I will honor all your parts and hold a steady light for you as you journey through.

I believe that life is all about experience and relationships that affect different individuals in different ways, and for different reasons. For that reason, I have an integrated and eclectic approach using relational, psychodynamic, cognitive behavioral, supportive and family psychotherapy treatment modalities to treat Eating Disorders, Anxiety, Depression, OCD and Personality Disorders including self injurious behaviors. Treatment is individualized to the needs of each client and collaboration can be coordinated with a nutritionist, psychiatrist and physician when appropriate. I have a group therapy program for adolescents, young adults and women struggling with eating disorders, body image and self -esteem issues.

I believe that we are not meant to be defined our past negative experiences but rather free of them so that we may build a more fulfilling future. I have been trained psychodynamically and do trauma focused therapy. Traumas are often incidents that might appear small on the surface but may impact our ability to be intimate with others. I am a member of the International Society of Studies in Trauma and Dissociation and am abreast with newest treatments and research. I work with sexual abuse survivors and work with firemen, police officers and other first responders through psychodynamic therapy and EMDR. I am an EMDR certified

I am a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in the treatment of young adults and young professionals. I love working with others to find or create their own meaning and identity. Often this requires working on the issues that get in the way, like anxiety, depression, grief, or stress. Whether through a desire to change circumstances, improve self-compassion, or develop better relationships with important people, forming or changing your sense of self will be one of the most important experiences of your life.

You might be queer, trans, nonbinary, questioning, neurodivergent, or all of the above—and feel like you’ve been masking your whole life just to stay safe. Maybe you carry layers of shame, anxiety, people‑pleasing, or trauma from families, schools, or partners who never really saw you. You want a therapist who understands chosen family, queer joy, and survival, and who uses art, conversation, and body awareness to help you feel grounded, affirmed, and able to take up space as your full self. If you’re ready to stop shrinking and imagine a future that feels more livable, we can explore that future together.

Growing up in emotionally inconsistent or invalidating environments can affect how you relate to yourself and others as an adult. You might carry a sense of responsibility for others’ feelings, struggle with self-criticism, or wonder if it’s okay to take up space. Guilt, shame, people-pleasing, and emotional exhaustion may keep showing up despite your efforts to change. You want to feel steady in who you are, trust your instincts, and have relationships that feel safe and mutual—but navigating the impact of your upbringing can feel overwhelming and lonely.

Do you feel stuck, despite being highly self-aware? Have you tried talk therapy before and it felt nice to vent, but it didn’t really create the transformation or deep healing and relief from anxiety you were looking for? I help millennial women like you by using a holistic approach to therapy. I combine EMDR therapy, art therapy, IFS therapy and somatic practices like nervous system regulation to heal at the root of your issues, discover what you want out of life, and create lasting changes. I also offer EMDR Intensives for those who want to heal NOW and don't want to spend months or even years in the traditional therapy model.
