My passion is to create a space where conversations about mental health feel as natural and open as they deserve to be. My journey in the mental health field began with a deep curiosity about human connection and a desire to understand the unique ways each of us experience and express our emotions.

Finding support as an adult can be a challenging process. While there is no specific cheat code or googleable guide towards “adulting”, the right clinical approach can be a way of learning to better navigate our needs as individuals, while allowing ourselves the opportunity to focus on individual growth. My therapeutic style provides a holistic and collaborative approach of utilizing humor, play, and creativity in navigating challenges related to men’s mental health issues, depression, anxiety, mood disorders, anger management, addiction, grief, and trauma.

There are times in life when the work of being a person in the world can feel utterly unmanageable, if not downright impossible. Therapy should be a place of respite and recovery from these challenges - it is here that we can slow down, process, laugh, cry, heal, and grow. Everyone deserves a therapeutic space where you can be seen in the way you want to be seen, and heard in the way you want to be heard. In my work, I seek to create a collaborative space based on values of affirmation, trust, and compassion, in which we can explore and address the adversity that prevents you from leading the life you want to lead.

These are especially difficult times. We live in a world of uncertainty. In this world, we want to orient toward well-being. This dynamic requires constant adjustments. We want to recognize what is wholesome and keep it around. We also want to recognize what is unwholesome and not invite it around. Part of our work will be to develop our ability to hold difficult feelings and experiences without being swept out to sea. We want to learn to hold them with a little more kindness and care. You will often hear me refer to the "holding environment" which is physiological - body/breath, and attitudinal - heart/mind.

Joy, calm, connection and hope make life feel worthwhile. Day to day difficulties can be tolerated as part of a richer experience. Adversity is borne through reliance on trusted coping skills. These are common aspirations but through the relationships that created us, circumstances that overwhelm or appetites that never feel satisfied, pain can seem too great, love unattainable and life timid. In assisting people to see how previously valid ways of living and relating may no longer be helpful and in exploring thinking that may not have lead to the desired results, my aim is to draw out people's unique resilience to foster change.

For over 30 years, I've enjoyed helping people to develop strategies to reduce stress/anxiety, depression, and successfully navigate common life issues related to career, life transitions, and grief/loss. As we all are trying to cope with the current crisis, we are having to adjust and find ways to maintain our mental health, relationships, friendships, and health. I offer phone and video (FaceTime & Zoom) sessions some weekday evenings and Saturday in office or remote. Note, although I’m out of network, most find their insurance does reimburse for session fees.

Life is constantly in a state of transition, some are expected and welcomed changes. The others are unexpected, very unwelcomed and at times life altering. The human experience is impacted by life events that can make us feel overwhelmed, anxious, nervous, depressed and hopeless. Therapy can be the key to unlock an experience that can equip you with the tools necessary to navigate life’s welcomed and unwelcomed transitions. With my Masters degree in Social Work from Fordham University and 10+ years’ experience, I have acquired the necessary skills to assist with the steps towards improving your quality of life.

I work with adults aged 18 and over who come to address all kinds of concerns. As disruptive and difficult as symptoms and troubling experiences can be, I believe that they serve as signposts that show us where our energy may be unproductively trapped. I use a process of skilled listening and dialogue to help people read such signposts. Many find that when they can translate their signs into a language comprehensible to themselves, the energy trapped in symptoms stops causing suffering and becomes available to fuel a passionate life.

In an era where we’re bombarded with self-love messaging from all sides, too many of us are left to struggle with the nagging question: “But how do I love myself?” Some of us—especially those carrying marginalized identities—were never taught. Instead, we were given life scripts urging us to make ourselves small and focus solely on the ways we come up short. The fact that you’ve taken this step to find support is a pivotal moment; you’re acknowledging that you deserve better, and you’re willing to do the work to get there. I’d love to help you with that.
