Those that are
suicidal
, gay/lesbian, transgendered etc.
We all need some help at times. I enjoy working with people that are willing to work. You should be ready to do some easy homework, to discuss the issue sending you to therapy. In general you should be ready to feel supported and held.

I am a Licensed Social Worker and I specialize in depression, anxiety,
suicidal
ideations, LGBTQ+ related issues, anger management, self-esteem, and overall life changes.
To fully heal, you must move through the emotions, not around them or shutting the door on them. I understand that seems scary but I am here to help you not do it alone. I believe one of the bravest things you can do is face your pain and move towards healing. I am person-centered and focus on how to create an individualized approach because everyone is unique and has different needs. I want you to feel comfortable and safe to explore your emotions within therapy. I am here to support you through your journey and am excited to help you find peace within your everyday life.

My son's
suicide
attempt changed the course of my life; working collaboratively, we can change the course of yours!.
Clients who work with me are tired of experiencing life with anxiety and depression; they recognize that a change is necessary, and they're ready to engage. Their goals may include the need to experience joy, hope, love, respect and success. Often, they struggle building successful close and intimate relationships, communicating their needs, and/or or achieving academic and career success - in other words, life goals.

My primary interest areas include teenagers engaging in self harm, experiencing
suicidal ideation
, and trauma.
It's not easy making that first phone call to speak to a therapist. In fact, it can be quite scary! I place a strong emphasis on authenticity and the client/therapist working relationship. My ideal client population would be those who do not feel heard or understood by others. I believe that we all have a purpose in life, and sometimes we may need assistance locating it.

The range of issues I can assist with include anxiety, depression, adjustment dx, self-harming behavior,
suicidal ideation
, mood disorders and psychosis.
When we face serious issues we may shut-down, shame or over blame ourselves/others for the problem. Absence of healthy coping skills/emotional balance can lead to an unhappy walk through life. Therapy allows the opportunity for growth to understand personal thoughts, feelings and behavior. Together, we can re-discover healthy control, coping skills, peace, hope, and emotional balance. Perhaps for the first time, you will love, trust and feel comfortable within your own skin. I like to look at change through a developmental lens where we have the courage to break unhealthy habits and replace them with more effective skills.

My areas of expertise are working with children, adolescents, adults, and families with problems such as academic and behavioral issues, relationship issues, self-injury,
suicidal
thoughts and tendencies, and coping with trauma.
We as people endure a lot of pain, carrying this pain with us can become heavy, so heavy that it bleeds out onto our daily lives, our routines, onto our relationships, and onto the many things we love and desire to keep safe. Being willing to be present and accept that organizing these life problems will only aid us to reduce the persistent chaos and overwhelming feelings. This is where we start. I am flawed, I am human, and I have done the hard work, and continue to do the hard work on a daily basis. I am also committed to develop a strategic plan alongside you in your journey to building you.

Have you lost a loved one to
suicide
and are now having difficulty finding anyone who understands what you are going through?
Suicide
loss survivors often feel significant guilt and responsibility for the
suicide
. They can also feel abandoned and betrayed by the deceased. Well-meaning friends, family members, and therapists may try their best to help but often exacerbate the pain and confusion the survivor is feeling. Imagine feeling understood by someone who has been there and can guide you along the path of recovering from the
suicide
of your loved one. I would like to be that person for you.

Our mental health practice includes online psychiatry, mental health tele-therapy, and care for patients who have
suicidal
thoughts and behaviors.
I first started therapy as a client, scared and unsure what the journey would entail. The experience changed my life. Therapy empowered me to better understand myself, and eventually I came out as a part of the LGBTQIA+ community. Now, I love working people from all walks of life — guiding them to self-discovery, introspection, and mental wellness.

Suicidal Ideation Therapists
How does therapy for suicidal ideation work?
Stress, depression, anxiety, or upsetting circumstances can give rise to suicidal thinking. Therapy can address the events at the core of an individual’s suffering. Understanding why a person may be suicidal can help the therapist and the patient discover alternative methods of coping. A person with suicidal ideation may be mired in catastrophic thinking, and treatment like cognitive behavioral therapy is a good choice for breaking such patterns. In addition, treatment such as acceptance and commitment therapy can help a person manage their distress through better emotion regulation.
Which therapies are best for suicidal ideation?
Specific approaches used by professionals include cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavior, psychodynamic, acceptance and commitment therapies, among others. Cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavior therapies are two widely used therapies that can help individuals with painful thoughts and past traumas. These therapies help an individual tolerate distress, regulate emotions, and not act on dangerous urges.
Are there specific medications to be combined with therapy?
The use of medication for suicidal thoughts must be aligned with the underlying cause; conditions such as depression, anxiety, and psychosis may be at the root of suicidal ideation. A psychiatrist may prescribe medications for symptoms, which may include antipsychotics such as aripiprazole or antidepressants such as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors.
How often and how long are therapy sessions for suicidal ideation?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual. Patients may see improvement within 15 to 20 sessions, at an average of 50 minutes per session, while others may opt for 20 to 30 sessions over, perhaps, a six-month period. Still other patients, especially those with co-occurring conditions like major depression and anxiety, may need to continue sessions for up to 12 to 18 months. In some cases, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm.
