Hi there! Many people seek out therapy because they feel stuck or confused. Others are having difficulty fully overcoming past trauma or a difficult event(s). As a licensed psychologist, I typically work with people who are generally successful but are experiencing everyday stress and challenges, as well as more pervasive emotional and social difficulties related to anxiety, depression, and/or past trauma. I'm very easy to talk to and will utilize evidence-based treatments with the aim to assist you with developing more constructive ways of dealing with challenges so you can feel better, thrive, and best fulfill your potential.

Welcome to my practice. I am a NY, NJ, and FL-licensed clinical psychologist specializing in testing for autism and immigration evaluations. If you or your child has signs of autism and you would like answers, I can help. If you are not sure what your symptoms mean, I specialize in hard to diagnose conditions and will often catch clues other tests have missed. I can help you figure it all out and make recommendations for a better life. I use evidence-based measures and methods where I trained at Albert Einstein, Montefiore, Mt. Sinai, Icahn Medical School, and the Seaver Center for Autism.

So many people are coping with diverse issues now, it’s no longer “just” depression and anxiety. These feelings are complicated and exacerbated by health, employment, family and sexuality concerns. Traumas great and small can arise and all are worthy of therapeutic support.

Tara Brach speaks of being a bird with two wings. Often my thoughts turn to this when describing how I work. As a mindfulness-based and contemplative psychodynamic psychologist, I seek to help others find ways to gently turn toward their suffering, cultivating the capacity to hold that which is unpleasant in one hand, and that which is pleasant in the other. As the saying goes, "Suffering is optional."

Teletherapy
Teletherapy and Online counseling have grown enormously as a medium for therapy since the advent of social distancing. Most therapists are happy to provide sessions by video or phone.

All professionals are licensed to provide video therapy to clients within the State in which they hold their license. Cross State licensing exists, but is rare.

So if you're a client in New Jersey, this list of teletherapists are licensed to provide therapy to you online (by phone, video or text based chat) because they are within your state. They are sorted nearest to furthest, with professionals in New Jersey listed first.

Teletherapy via phone or video can be very similar to conventional in person sessions. The message is the same, even if the medium is different. There are some advantages in the form of convenience, lack of travel and being in comfort of your own home. Set against those, professionals find it more difficult to read non-verbal signals of their clients, and you may find you yourself can be more easily distracted.
