I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker/therapist with over 30 years of clinical experience. I specialize in helping adults who with depression, PTSD, and anxiety. Additionally, I have extensive experience working with people who are struggling with alcohol or substance abuse. I specialize in helping LGBTQ and elderly clients. I am available on to work with you in setting goals for treatment. During the initial visit, we will begin discussing what brought you to therapy and what you would like to receive from our sessions together.

I believe that everyone has the potential to grow and learn. Friends and family are great support at times, but sometimes people can benefit from more. I often tell people therapy is a little bit like having a coach. It is someone to set goals with, someone to hold you accountable, someone to cheer you on and help you navigate the road map of life. Deborah Babbitt, MSW, LCSW Deborah is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Missouri. After earning her MSW at University of Missouri, Kansas City in 2010 as a Jewish Heritage-Hartford Fellow, she worked with adults, older adults and families in various settings. Work in community, health care and acute psychiatric care settings have provided Deborah with a broad perspective on the issues of aging and supporting aging parents, coping with chronic illness, depression, anxiety, stress, trauma, grief and loss. She is available to provide ongoing addiction therapy to persons who have completed a detox program.

Kenya Hicks is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who is a graduate of the University of Missouri Kansas City with a Master’s Degree in Social Worker. Mrs. Hicks has experience in treating childhood trauma. She has over 15 years’ experience working with children, families and individuals as a Trauma Clinician. She provides early intervention or crisis management services to help stabilize individuals and families in need.

I opened Dunsdon Counseling, LLC in 2022 to offer mental health services in Independence, MO and the surrounding area. I graduated from UMKC in 2012 with my Master’s Degree in Social Work. I have been practicing as a therapist for more than 7 years. I work with preteens, teenagers, parents and individuals. I use an individualized, holistic approach, focusing treatment on the need of each client. I believe in the worth of all persons and value each person's unique life experience.

The entire family system needs assessed, in order to enact change, to aid in the healing of a child who has experienced trauma or who is experiencing adjustment difficulties. Aimee established her own private practice in order to provide people a place to feel better. We have two licensed clinical social workers who can provide therapy services at A Balanced Mind. We are open Monday -Thursday 10:00am to 8:00pm. Closed Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Closed Holidays too.
