Mindfulness is the practice of attending to present-moment experience without judgment. If you are struggling with anxiety or depression, or you are hoping to live a calmer, more meaningful life, the practice of mindfulness can reduce stress, promote mental clarity, and develop non-judgmental awareness in daily life. This group offers an introduction to the basic practices of mindfulness, such as sitting meditation and body scanning, as well as the cultivation of compassion and acceptance. Group offered in an 8-week format with one 75-minute (evening) session per week. Group available three times per year. $10/session.
Anger is a natural human emotion, but when it is out of control, it can harm our physical health, as well as our emotional and psychological wellbeing. If your relationships, career, or daily living are being affected by anger, this group can help you understand and regulate this intense and overwhelming emotion. Our group offers a completion certificate to participants who attend all 12 sessions & meets requirements for court-mandated anger management classes. Open to everyone. Group offered in 12-week format with one 90 minute session per week in the evening. Available 3 times per year. Call for schedule.
What does it mean to be a loving, mindful, and effective parent? Our Parenting Skills Group covers a variety of topics, including how to be present with your child, understanding attachment bonds, discipline vs. punishment, and techniques for effective communication. This group utilizes Dan Segal's The Whole Brain Child, which incorporates contemporary research on infants to help parents better understand their child's neurobiological and neuropsychological development. These classes offer straightforward and practical parenting skills based on the latest infant research. Our 6 to 12-week, 90-minute Parenting Group meets once per week. Available 3 times per year.
