As children, we tend to be optimistic, with hopes and dreams for our future. We dream of becoming astronauts, ballerinas, firemen…and the idea of reaching our goals is as exciting as achieving them. Sometimes, on our way to adulthood, we lose that sense of magic. I hope to be able to help you restore the magic and rekindle your enthusiasm, curiosity, and love for life.

You deserve to thrive. Come as you are and let's connect. Trauma is not something you have to learn to live with. It is something that you can overcome and create the life you deserve. My intention is to support you with unwavering acceptance, empathy, understanding, and excitement to create a partnership in change to discover your authentic self. I offer gentle encouragement to move forward by empowering you to discover your light within to shine brightly. You can expect a mutual respect and dignity when working with me. I often think out of the box when necessary to get to the root.

Are you feeling stuck in shame or the like you’re constantly circling the mental cul de sac of self judgment? Does it feel like your past is holding you back from being present to what’s happening now? You know you want something that’s better than what you’re experiencing now. You want to feel better. You want connection, authentic relationships, and to live in alignment. But type of change might feel scary because it’s uncertain.

I believe in a holistic approach, meaning my view of the therapeutic process is shaped by a curiosity about the whole person situated within relationships, community, and social context. Through discovering an individuals inner knowledge, their intuition, and that inner spark of existence, I believe there is value in exploring who we are as people. The goal of good psychotherapy quite simply put is to become more of who we authentically are, everyday. It is also my belief that people naturally go through phases in life of seeking and integration, and that in an ideal outcome the therapist becomes obsolete.

I work to create a warm, caring relationship, so that clients can find personal insight, healing, and balance. I encourage clients to work at their own pace and comfort level, using the discoveries and insights from a variety of fields to help clients work toward deeper, lasting emotional healing. I know that most people are not merely looking for a few extra coping strategies, but want real longer-term relief. If you are looking for more than another round of affirmations and deep breathing, I may be a good fit for you.

Are you struggling with chronic anxious thoughts, low self-esteem, difficulty sleeping, or chronic pain syndromes? If you have been feeling stuck in physical or emotional pain, it is important to know that you are not alone in this, and that there is support available. I understand the interconnectedness of trauma, anxiety, and chronic pain. I know that these experiences can cause anger, resentment, and hopelessness, and hinder the joy and quality of life. However, they are temporary and treatable. I know this because I have been there myself.

You are so much more than your mistakes, struggles, or perceived failures. You deserve more than a therapy session focused on what's "wrong" with you and what you need to change. You deserve a place where all the challenges you have overcome are appreciated and the problems you are facing are seen from a perspective of hope rather than fear. In addition to learning how to cope with your current struggles, You will find your talents, compassion, understanding, and kindness in a judgment free environment where you can be yourself.

Neuro-Linguistic (NLP) Therapists

How does neuro-linguistic programming work?

A therapist using Neuro-linguistic programming might start by building a strong rapport and gathering information about the client’s objectives and any problem areas. Then the NLP therapist will employ NLP techniques to guide their client toward healthier thoughts and behaviors. Clients will learn how to better manage their moods and hone their communication skills. NLP will conclude with the therapist and client making a plan for how to integrate the positive changes into their daily life in the future.

What are some techniques used in neuro-linguistic programming?

NLP therapists often employ anchoring, so the client begins to automatically associate their trigger with a healthier response. Clients also learn how to reframe a situation to change the way they react to it for the better, and how to replace the negative beliefs that are holding them back. Many NLP clients practice visualization or forming a mental image of themselves attaining their goals. Every NLP therapist will have their own preferred approach with specific techniques that they have found to be helpful for their clients.

How long does neuro-linguistic programming take?

Since neuro-linguistic programming is not regulated, the length of treatment can vary greatly. Some therapists may only use NLP in a single session, while others may employ it over the course of weeks, months, or even years. It depends greatly on the type and severity of the problem being treated, as well as the individual client’s response to NLP treatment.

Is neuro-linguistic programming evidence-based?

While some people may find neuro-linguistic programming helpful, either in therapy or in their career or personal development, the science behind this approach is inconclusive. Most of the available studies are small in scale and have produced mixed results, and the commercial nature of NLP lends itself to conflicts of interest. More research is needed. In the meantime, practitioners must use their best judgment of whether NLP techniques will be helpful in meeting their clients’ individual needs.
