I am trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), one of the two treatments recommended for Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, according to the WHO.
We seek the guidance of a therapist for many reasons and each one is valid. Sometimes we just need a sounding board because we're feeling stuck; sometimes we're going through a life transition. Other times, a traumatic event has us overwhelmed and we can't separate our present from our future or past. Symptoms of depression and anxiety are manageable...until they're not. It's hard to reach out, but it is also the first big step of many towards healing. Let me help you keep the momentum going towards better health. The therapeutic relationship can be a great catalyst for lifelong relief.

The clients I work with may have experiences including but not limited to life adjustments, interpersonal conflict with partners, friends, or families, self esteem, attachment, identity issues, gender roles, trauma, anxiety, and depression.
Clients may feel like their thoughts and emotions are overwhelming or confusing and often do not know where to start when it comes to talk therapy. My job involves weaving together all the information you disclose and connect themes by providing a broader perspective on how these pieces may impact you in the present day.

Whether you're navigating the aftershocks of past trauma, relationship struggles, burnout, or just trying to reconnect with yourself—we’re here to help you move forward with support that fits your life.
You keep it together for everyone else—but inside, you're exhausted. You’re successful, capable, and constantly handling more than most people realize. From the outside, you’re functioning just fine. But emotionally? You’re stretched thin, anxious, and stuck in patterns you can’t seem to shift. Maybe you’ve tried to brush it off. Maybe you’ve told yourself it’s “not that bad.” But the sleepless nights, the tight chest, the way small things trigger big reactions—none of it is going away. At Blue Elephant Counseling, we help women who feel like they’re running on empty but can’t afford to fall apart.

EMDR is a psychotherapy that enables people to heal from the symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences " Trauma".
“It’s no use going back to yesterday because I was a different person then.” “Who in the world am I? Ah, that's the great puzzle.” Alice, from Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll. I like to ask my client's "What has happened to you" versus "What is wrong with you." "How can we get you to where you want to go?" I believe each client has their own story to tell. I am willing to join you on your path...

The ache and overwhelm of unresolved attachment trauma is not something anyone is meant to move through alone.
My approach is holistic in nature and person-centered. While I focus on what each individual client needs, I often use Attachment-Based Therapy, EMDR, systemic and mindfulness-based approaches, and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) to support growth and meaningful change for my clients no matter where they are in their stage of healing.

I invite clients to explore their problems by working to create a safe, accepting environment. Believing that a problem holds the key to its solution, I try to help clients hear what they are saying and pay attention to the way they see things. Symptoms such as depression, anxiety, and relationship problems often echo patterns or concerns we have carried for years. I encourage clients to say what they think and feel so they can accept where they are, see the possibility of change, and take the risk of acting different.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
