What parts of yourself do you hide? Often, we hide complex parts of ourselves out of fear. Sometimes those fears are grounded in messages we receive from meaningful others in our lives. Other times, our fears are based on very realistic cultural appraisals. Whatever the source(s), hiding yourself and your feelings can contribute to anxiety, loneliness, depression, avoidance, relationship difficulties, unresolved traumas, secretive behaviors, and unrealized potential. Within a strong, supportive, and affirming therapeutic relationship, you can fully experience the complexity of yourself without the judgment or rejection you fear.
