I am passionate about and dedicated to the mission of helping others grow and learn. My sole focus is on helping you to reach your goals. I provide understanding and compassionate support as well as a safe place to process the many stressors we encounter in life. I have experience addressing a wide array of difficulties to include trauma, depression, anxiety, grief, and co-occurring concerns. I have worked in both outpatient and residential levels of care as well as within group settings. I am willing to meet all who walk through the door wherever they may be at in their own journey.

I have been a clinical psychologist for over 20 years, first as a staff psychologist at UNMC, and now in private practice in Papillion. I work with people 19 and older. The work I do is generally insight-oriented, meaning I want us to understand the factors underlying behaviors before attempting to change them. I am particularly interested in patterns, and how prior relational learning can repeat in the present. I try to make my office a place of safety where people can explore prior learning about themself and others in order to modify assumptions, expectations, and behavior. This type of work tends to lead to long-lasting change.

My ideal client is between 15 and 70 years old and possibly struggling with an addiction, depression, anxiety, relationships or other mental health issues. Let me help you find yourself and become the person you always hoped you could be!

I specialize working with children 12 and under. I am also a Certified Geriatric Counselor. I have spent many years working with trauma and crisis children using cognitive as well as play therapy skills. I am a Registered Play Therapist. I worked in Residential Treatment for three years and also worked for three years as the Social Services Coordinator for a nursing home.However I do work with adults as well. I do a parent training group to help parents have better relationshps with their children and help parents of Reactive Attachment Children to have more success with bonding and behaviors.

I have spent over 15 years working with children, adults, and families in private practice, homes, residential facilities, treatment centers, and emergency shelters. I now address issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, low self-esteem, and confusion during life transitions for women. My diverse and unique experiences as a practitioner and an individual, make me a strong ally for change and healing. I work with emotional/behavioral issues with clients who are ready for change. I am also a Life Coach for women who are ready to stop people-pleasing by recognizing their own self-worth and empowerment.

Clients that I work best with typically are ready to take notes, journal, keep track of the progress in therapy, and begin using the tools they are taught to make progress and changes in their lives. Together we will create a treatment plan that aligns with your needs and use it to guide therapy sessions and track our progress.

I have a passion for working with clients to build them up and guide them to discover their true self. I love working with patients as they find ways to motivate themselves, evolve and discover what their potential could be. I have worked with the homeless population, correctional facilities, and with people who are just trying to find a way to better their lives. I am currently being Supervised by a Licensed Clinical Supervisor who has been my main supervisor for almost 2 years.

Many of us did not grow up knowing that it was important - and okay - to take care of our mental health. We heard talking about going to the doctor when you are sick, but nothing about seeking counseling - therapy - when our thoughts, feelings, or behaviors aren't well. But seeing a therapist is just as important and normal as visiting your doctor. Our minds and bodies are one, endlessly affecting one another both positively and negatively. If we are unwell physically, then our mental health can suffer AND vise versa.

My counseling and psychotherapy practice has grown from the roots of a 34- year career in public education. My experiences include 24 years in the classroom as a Spanish teacher (K-12), and a decade working as a high school Counselor. I have counseled diverse populations and cultures, and have extensive knowledge and practice in working with students who receive special education services. I have worked with families in crisis due to death, deployment and adverse circumstances. In addition, I have personal insight into the unique demands of military families as the mother of both an active duty soldier and a combat veteran.
