I primarily work with substance use, whether that's something you're experiencing or you need some support as a family member, spouse, significant other, peer, or child of someone using substances.
I provide an integrative approach. I find the most success when we can pull from different types of therapeutic modalities. I am a genuine, understanding provider who recognizes the challenges of being a human. Together, I hope that we can create a space where it feels safe to be ourselves and find the beauty of life through self-discovery and connection.

I utilize interventions rooted in evidence based practices: attachment style parenting, healing from trauma, and substance use counseling.
Let’s come together to discover your courage to grow, adapt, and prosper! Therapy is a beautiful process that empowers us to deepen our self knowledge and make breakthroughs in whatever is holding us back; whether things have gotten too difficult or you’re in a longstanding battle of feeling unwell. Your experiences, relationships, mental health and physical health can all have an impact on how you show up in your life. These experiences can build up over time and erode our sense of peace and confidence. Our relationships become strained and we begin to feel more isolated.

My experience includes having worked with adults who struggle with PTSD, trauma (as well as military-related PTSD), depression, anxiety, OCD, ADHD, personality disorders, mood disorders, postpartum + pregnancy + fertility related struggles, grief/loss/bereavement, substance use/addiction, relationship issues, and suicidal ideation/crisis intervention.
I believe in meeting each client where they are at by encompassing a holistic, trauma-informed approach to the biopsychosocial model, while emphasizing the impact that trauma, childhood and past experiences have on our current situations and our disconnect from mind and body. Healing from trauma is a necessary first step.

My qualifications allow me to assist with a wide range of mental health issues, substance use problems, or career-related concerns.
Hello, and thank you for considering me as your therapist. I believe that much of our suffering stems from the ways we think about things. Through critically examining how we think, we can replace unhelpful ways of thinking with rational and helpful ways of thinking—leading to healthier emotions and behavior. In therapy, we will explore this and other possible solutions to address your concerns effectively. If you are apprehensive about starting therapy, rest assured that my aim is to provide a confidential and non-judgmental space where you will feel comfortable. You are in ultimate control of the direction your therapy takes.

My background includes treating patients with co-morbid medical issues, mental health, and substance use issues.
Searching for a counselor is no easy task. I encourage you to read my profile and if you have any questions, please contact me. A little bit about me. I grew up living all over the US. In total, I’ve lived in eight different states. Because of my life experiences, I'm able to connect to many different cultures and adapt easily to my surroundings. My early life experiences taught me that sometimes change can be difficult and scary but that even in the worst situations, people can and do prevail. I've been a therapist for almost 18 years. I’ve spent the past 9 years working in integrated medical/behavioral health environments.

I work with children, adolescents, adults, and families to address complex life issues, such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, mood disorders, adverse life events, ADHD, grief and loss, relationship issues, and substance use.
Life is a journey. How often have you heard that? As we find our road through life, we all need inspiration and guidance. Having an outside perspective to navigate that journey can help us view our path through a different lens. It is my goal as your therapist to create a safe, supportive, and accepting environment for you to share your story. I believe that there is no one-size-fits-all approach for therapy. Whether it's learning coping skills, practicing mindfulness, or just having someone to talk to, I get it. Life isn't easy and you don't have to tackle this journey alone.

Substance Use Therapists

How do substance and drug recovery or rehabilitation programs work?

In inpatient programs, individuals live in a facility with other clients in recovery; in outpatient programs, individuals reside at home. These facilities are staffed with healthcare professionals including physicians, nurses, psychologists, counselors, and psychotherapists. Staff often also includes people who have recovered themselves, serving as mentors and guides. These programs may use abstinence, harm reduction, detoxification, psychotherapy, and other methods.

How do 12-step programs combined with psychotherapy work?

Members of 12-step programs help each other reach abstinence and work to maintain it. These programs promote complete change in the individual’s emotional, mental, physical, and even spiritual perspectives. Some programs require that new members attend 90 meetings in 90 days. Many people do attend these programs in conjunction with their work in psychotherapy; the combination of therapy along with 12-step can be extremely effective.

How does harm reduction combined with psychotherapy work?

According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, harm reduction prevents death, injury, disease, overdose, and substance misuse. People who choose harm reduction for substance use reduce the amount of drugs they consume. It is not abstinence-based like a 12-step program, but combining harm reduction with psychotherapy proves to be effective for many people.

Are there specific medications for substance and drug use?

There are medications approved to treat substance use disorder—such as buprenorphine, methadone, naltrexone, and acamprosate. These medications do help people cope with substance use as well as avoid the problem of relapse. Naltrexone can help reduce cravings, methadone is an opioid medication used to treat severe pain, and acamprosate may help ease symptoms like poor sleep and anxious feelings.
